We sponsored this and took a lot of risk. Grab a LIMITED EDITION GN Cyber Skeleton V2 foil shirt on our store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/limited-edition-foil-cyberskeleton2-cotton-tshirt - these will only be made once and will not be made again after. We typically sell through these within a month, and these are a great way to support our investigative journalism, research, and deep dives. They also support our test equipment purchases. Additionally, you can grab our toolkits, modmats, mouse mats, or other items on the store. This video required coordination with investigators, business analysts, sources and whistleblowers, former EK staff and current suppliers, and more. We dive deep into what we think are the corrupted ethics and nepotism of the world's largest PC water cooling manufacturer, EK WB, as we investigate its finances, issues with payment, its past breaches of contract where it lost court battles, and demand letters that are intimidating with references of jail time. This video cost us over $40,000 to make between all the research, hired firms, investigators, and analysts, and our own costs internally. I know I already left a comment stating how important real journalism is to keep people accountable and to try and protect others in general. But after reading more comments, it really began to sink in where we currently live in a world many of the people we expect to do real journalism really don't anymore which leads to bigger and wider issues. Pretty much pick any subject, the media either buries it's head, or has become a champion activist either through their ideology or financial payoffs, so I realise how important it is to support those who actually want to keep their corner of the world in some sort of equilibrium. Thanks for everything you do Steve and the rest of the team at GN, you really have become the gold standard.

In 1990's when Yugoslavia imploded ,Slovenia was Yugoslavian banking hub .One major banking institution there ,Ljubljanska banka stole foreign currency savings from people that lived in other Yugoslav republics ,we are talking about billions of euros here.100 lawsuits and nearly 30 years later and Slovenia finally admitted liability ...too bad that vast majority of people whose money they stole have died or that many lost their savings books in war and now bank is pretending they lost their documents .Also they will only pay back pennies on the dollar and no interests.
Lesson here ..those that expect to get their money from Slovenian crooks... good luck .Entire country is one big Ponzi scheme.

I am a bit torn on GN myself. The 'Single Topic' videos have always been awesome, especially due to the in depth focus, and of course the time to explain stuff when it is a bit trickier to understand for a layman. Like when Steve gets onto a topic like this, or back in the day with Artesian or Newegg.
But in the 'This week in tech' style news videos with 6-10 topics covered in one, they often get too in depth within the short chunks.
But right now, this one I absolutely love it, heck, including arranging a lawyer contact for EKWB Texas employees....especially when one factors in how pricey a lawyer can be, and this time, the lawyer is in the know about the whole case.

Job titles mean nothing these days, I have run into to many people that don't understand there roll. Which makes them think they can just sit back. Like a supervisor who sit's in his/her office all day and not checking on the people they should be checking on.
Due to one supervisor I had to have my kitchen refitted 3 times due to the installers not doing there jobs right. Boxing in the stop tap so you can't shut the water off and hidding your gas pipe behind the units. A long with other problems. So people have for the most part lost there way and job titles mean nothing. It's all about the money and nothing more.
Well that's how it looks to me anyways.

Absolutely incredible work, this is what journalism is supposed to be like imho. Also, in my daily life I continuously see people in power (local or business) just not doing their job, not being professional, egoistic and emotional. When they get emotional (meaning, having no real argument) I live up as you know you can win this. At the same time, I really hate it, it doesn't have to be this way, I don't want to lawyer up all the time, but these days it seems the only viable way to make people do their actual F job. :) So this... I really love seeing. I still believe things went South quickly when the management layer was invented back in the 80's-90's.

Not suggesting solutions to EK is a very good point. You are right, when a community starts chanting what they want, a company can just do the thing without making any of the necessary steps to understand WHY they want that. I think this strategy should be adopted for most other companies. Game companies for example, EA gets greedy, the community tells them how to fix it, EA adopts the demands with half an ass, and the next game has the same issues. We need to stop telling companies how to fix their own problems, if they cannot figure out how to treat their customers, then they should not be rewarded with success or redemption.

Wait a minute - Steve is saying that because of their huge amount of experience, these evil people should be better leaders
I would think the opposite - precisely because of their experience, they know that they will get away with shady practices. They always have and you bet that regardless of how this story unfolds, they will be just fine.
It's the same with presidents and other people of tremendous power. You usually (!) don't get there without doing stuff that most people would consider seriously wrong. See also e.g. Apple, slavery and its current status on the market.

Wow. Just wow. GN's level of professionalism and thoroughness in investigation, and EK leadership's level of scumminess. Both amazing, in very, very different ways.
Yet I can't even say I'm surprised. Greed is everywhere and too many people with overgrown egos want to become the next Elon Musk, or at least rich, fast.
Calling them out is so important.
Thank you Steve. 'Great job' would be a harsh understatement.
You're not wearing a shiny suit of armor, but your nickname should be 'Paladin'.

What's saddening about this is.. I don't presume the executives will be punished enough both financially and reputation wise. CEOs and execs are paid so much nowadays that this will only be a small dip in their finances while they look for a new venture. Reputation wise, it'll last a while but will recover. I hope this follows them.
For Kat, what's odd is ... she went to Stanford but isn't able to tell what's wrong with a business I didn't even study business and I can analyze the one I'm in.

reply

From the earliest mention of stuff going on with ek, I was thinking that it's odd but maybe just a cultural difference in how business is conducted. As time has progressed, I can see why Steve and other people in the tech industry started looking into things since this is looking fishy and consulting a lawyer for those involved is probably sound advice. As a potential customer, I would have to give the ek products a more skeptical eye and maybe just buy other brands instead.

What they are doing between the ebwb HQ and the US branch sounds like a form of Leveraged Buy Out. They saddle the US arm with debt and expenses while draining its liquidity in order to finance the managements' lavish lifestyles.
Also it's not uncommon for company owners to owner-finance a buyout of another partner. In this case the former CEO probably didn't want to drop that much cash to buy 15% of ekwb and financed it through the current CEO.

29:56 Delaware is known to be favorable to business owners. One favorable tax example, exemption from State Corporate income tax. A Delaware corporation may have its headquarters in any state in the United States and is frequently exempt from state corporate income tax. This means that even if a corporation is registered in Delaware, it may conduct business in other states without being subject to their corporate income tax.

GN setting the standard for journalism... again. Thanks Steve. Seriously though, thanks for being a guardian to the industry, the good people who work in it, and the consumers who pay money in good faith. Imagine if the MSM actually did journalism like this, the world wouldn't be such a shitshow. Steve would you mind investigating WEF and the likes of their mates Bill Gates, since the MSM don't see a problem

The most disappointing thing for me is I’ve spent a fair bit on EK products as I felt they were genuinely of a decent quality. It’s a real shame the company culture is this way and that what’s going on is affecting those employed or contracted by them. I really hope this is a case of inept rather than malicious management!
reply

Why Delaware Delaware is the most lenient state in the U.S. to register a corporation in the U.S. ... especially if your headquarters is located outside of the U.S. My view is that if you register a corporation in Delaware, then you are probably about to do something that should be deemed highly illegal.
reply

So far, we have the what, we have the who, and we have the how- all courtesy of GN.
There's one question left that is only partially unanswered- the 'why'
It would be simple to answer just greed or pure incompetency, but I would love to see GN attempt to interview the higher ups face to face

reply

Absolutely love this work you guys are doing. It is a true testament to the standard that all people and corporations should be held to. Also the Org Chart section had me in stitches and reminded me of the red string diagram from Always Sunny in Philadelphia with Charlie. Keep it up Steve!!

This is really surprising. My interactions with EK as a customer were flawless. I guess it's like a family home, you don't know what goes on behind closed doors, especially after you visit and everyone is all smiles and easy going. Bought all my EK kit in 2021. Things can change quickly!
reply

I don't even know why I'm surprised there was blatant racism being shown. I shouldn't be, but I am. There are a lot of issues with EK, but hearing this one as a mixed race American really really sucks. There's nothing EK can do that would get me to ever view them favorably again.
