This Case is a Disaster - Tryx LUCA L70 Review

Sponsor: Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut on Amazon https://geni.us/e8Oq & Hydronaut (Amazon) https://geni.us/hOQrBAb We're reviewing the Tryx LUCA L70 computer case, which is from a new company with some major backing behind it in the industry. Asetek has put major marketing effort behind the Tryx Panorama cooler, its staff include defectors from players like Cooler Master and ASUS, and it just put its first case out. The LUCA L70, unfortunately, proves to be a catastrophic failure of both build quality and case design. Several oversights include thumbscrews in locations that cause threading into the wrong panels on removal, captive screws in areas that don't make sense, panels that aren't secure, loose grommets, drive cable management that points the cables the wrong direction, and incompatibilities that make it seem like no one ever tested all of the claimed configurations. Tried Thermal Grizzly (for the first time) Hydronaut with a new 7800X3D Build and so far so good. Temps have been very good (below 60c) with 240mm AIO.
Not even 10 minutes into the video and it seems pretty obvious that no one at Tryx ever actually tried to build with this case to see how well it worked in a build. If they had, they would have notcied all the faults and deficiencies and passed those on to the Research and Development department so they could fix this shtshow of a case before trying to flog it off to retailers. So much for all that experience in their front office. Clearly, those individuals are sales specialists not design specialists.

Steve - Excellent presentation and explanation of how any criticisms you and the team present are only in our (the consumers) best interests. Without the team at GN, I truly believe that companies would have to accept less responsibility for things. I love what you folks at GN do and how advanced the testing has become over the years. GN has saved me countless hours and easily hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in the few PC builds I have done. You guys are what keeps my attention on new products and the industry as a whole. Amazing job as always. Keep the quality journalism coming!

The King 95 Pro I bought was half the price, comes with 6 ARGB fans and isn't a piece of garbage. Id steer clear of this one. It doesn't even look that nice. The only thing it looks like they got right its keeping the front panel connecters on the front and not on the top. Every PC case I've ever had to get rid of I had to do so because dust and debris got into the top side front panel connecters. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if you had some blank plugs to seal them up. That is the one gripe I have with PC cases, the front panel connecters have to be on the front.

Why many people say nv5 is good I bought the mk2 version and its horrible. Starting with it comes without fans, the final cost is 140dls, both glasses has not a good union it came without the cover for hhd, the lateral glass is bad made in the metal part down. Its like fagile and hard to put on the case. I think antec c3 is better on the glass, size, and looks better in front with a little inclination. Also it has 4 reverse fans. Thw only bad think is the little space to put the gpu cable. I have a lianli strimer y that looks horrible and hard to put in.

Steve, I generally like your content, but I'm going to push back on something you said early in the review. The bottom fans (appear in the video) to NOT be totally walled in by an impenetrable barrier of aluminum, but there appears to be a cutout at the top of the stand/foot piece that should allow airflow in. You might make the argument that this cutout is too restrictive, but when the rest of your content is so technical and correct, the hyperbole fees inappropriate, especially when the cutouts are not mentioned in the rest of the review.

Loving the subtle camera movements when you're presenting the case. It's a welcome addition in the new style of case review videos y'all make. Not that the older ones were bad, I got a 500dx cause y'all said it's alright. Cheap and had fans. But this feel like it's worth watching that much more than just hey case good, case bad, here chart. So for that, thanks Steve and the Gamers Nexus Gang. There, now y'all have same number of letters as your rival IGN.

Mounting a 420mm rad to that top panel sounds like it would compete with cheap pcie slots for sag, though your now angle matched gpu would get all access airflow from the required sidepanel delete in that configuration. Also that 6/2 HDD/SSD swing bay looks so flimsy i wouldnt be surprised if the whole thing becomes a vibration amplifier if you were unfortunate enough to buy this thing and daring enough to stick spinning rust in it.

The explosion part of the FAQ just continues to confound me; negative pressure causing an EXplosion Not implosion Maybe its a spacecraft in theme with the brand but that makes just a little sense, there isn't really a thing as negative pressure, not relative to the vacuum of space certainly; spacecraft explosively decompress due to the positive pressure of the craft. Something is wrong here and its not just the build quality of the case.

Really hard to believe they have the money, the people, and it's such a nightmare! Smells like bad decision making to me. Even basic engineering don't do's done, and probably way more bad less or unrelated to engineering financial decisions as in parts and materials, manufacturer or worker choice and training (wage related)... stuff like that. Not a good start.

I don't care what this company makes, the fact other people got to review a week early, and let orders come in, but made you guys wait. I'll never buy from this case company. They are new in the space & already know they are shipping crappy build quality & was scared your review would mess up sales. Horrible tactics & they won't last long with this mindset

millions of (mostly ugly) gaming towers from all brands, but practicly no decent ATX HTPC anymore ... I want a new full size HTPC, with display, remote, space for a gaming GPU and drive bay, why is noone making those anymore! I cant be the only one who hates those towers or these tiny ITX boxes.

Tryx have today announced that they are postponing the US launch of this case in light of community feedback that has highlighted some potential quality control concerns. They say they are currently investigating their quality control, logistics and inventory to ensure they meet the highest standards.

I got myself MONTECH AIR 903 MAX a year ago. For less than 100 bucks.
ANd that is IT, the only case I will be needing, it seems. A lot of space (I have Sapphire Radeon 6950xt, not the samllest of GPUs) for GPU and AIO or just a plenty of fans, good internal layout.

What are you even paying for at that price Because my Fractal Torrent cost less than that and came fully furnished with fans that would make up at least half of the MSRP were I to buy them separately. What's the point of dropping over 200 dollars on an empty glass box
reply

why the f%k do you care or respect those scummy review embargoes
youre supposed to buy the items like a normal customer NOT have them specially sent to you
youre not supposed to be friends with manufacturers dude.
youre supposed to be honest and unbiased.

even without the cosmetic and fitment isssues.....this is NOT worth 240 nowadays. Almost NO CASE is worth over 150 nowadays as many options as there are that are EXCELLENT for under 80 USD, and how many modularish cases with big window are for under 200

The H500P meme but it can shatter was not on my 2024 GN Bingo Card
...Honestly actually there could very much be a GN Bingo Card. You all deal with a lot of companies who don't learn.
Edit: The 3D render killed me, made my day

Since they sent this in, they must either think it's really, really good or they have no idea that Steve has a 10 Initiative bonus and is ready to use his Desk Mat of Deconstruction 2. Available in the store. I think.

Lian lI EVO xl has a front ventalation panel avalable, I know, I own it. It fits like a glove, never seen you review this Steve. Its funny everyone is copping Lian Li, and I mean everyone. Lian Li is king period.

My system is in a Phanteks Inthoo Pro 2 Mesh. A titan of a case with a ridiculous amount of customization and mounting points. I didn't spend anything near $240 on it. In fact, I spent less than $140...
