Hi Chris, I been following you for several months now and granted I haven't watched all your videos yet, I have found what I have watched helpful. I have stumbled across windowsfx and wondered what your thoughts on this are. I haven't found a means to verify or authenticate this, but I do like the look of it and the windows feel, I entered the office world using windows manager, then on to win 95 and so on. I no longer like windows, due to the size, security issues, privacy and of course the annoying updates, typically I would fire up the pc for a powerpoint presentation training session and would have to wait what feels like an etertinity to wait for updates. On a personal note, I have been using Linux mint at home for nealry 10 years, I am not by any means savvy with the terminal, but do use it for certain functions. I managed to destroy my desktop faffing with terminal trying a terminal method to install fb messenger. (BTW I no longer use fb as of 2 months ago) I just couldn't get into my pc, but fortunately I back up regularly and just reinstalled the os. Getting back to winfx I would love to hear your thoughts on this as a daily driver and any concerns or issues you are aware of. My main concern is finding a way to verify and authenticate. I have had a look through your 500 videos but without watching them all I couldn't tell if you have touched on this OS or not. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Oh and happy anniversary for your 2 year landmark. Keep up the great videos.

there are some thing windows is better
1) as a gamer there sadly is no comparison to afterburner, hardwaremonitor, etc
2) sharing folders over network can be a pain in the ass. access a win10 folder from android/linux does not work for me... but win10 can access linux folders (but only if they are shared from the disc where your home folder is. you made a video about sharing folders from mounted drives, but why has this be so cumbersome)
3) thumbs! if you have a folder with a few 100 pics the loadingtime is way higher, than on windows, even with SSD. also this thumbs eat up a lot of disc space. windows handles it way better
4) better support for remote controls. something like -eventghost- on linux would be awesome
5) there is no -recent folders- shortcut. just -recent files-

Chris...........have you ever considered doing an in depth tutorial on bootable USB'S????? I know I could sure use one!!! I'd even give you a thumbs up for one, or two, or three, (just being satirical)!!
Seriously...........I'm a little exhausted from the myriad of distros and differences out there, and just don't have the years left to add a whole bunch of new syntax to my already decaying repository!!! Might you possibly know of an app that works??? I've tried many to no avail!! Or maybe a little coaching on tweaking faulty apps would help me regain my sanity!!

Linux is slowly getting better. I have used all distro of every sort. Let me list . Manjaro crashed. Red hat crashed. Ubuntu crashed. MX crashed. Peppermint 7-9 crashed. Open Suse crashed. Debian and Arch have all crashed . Linux mint my go to. 17.3 to 18.3 now 19.3 . They have been my most reliable. I have not had to wipe a disk to reinstall. My Windows 10 from the original developers has never let me down. It has shut down but restarted every time with just one exception. I did a system create restore. Never lost anything

The only gripe I have about linux with gnome desktop is that whatever distro I use there is always a very slight momentary lag when scrolling through photos using say gthumb or eye of gnome. It's almost imperceptable but once you noticed it is really annoying! Happens with both intel graphics and amd 5800 graphics card. Doesn't happen with KDE desktop using dolphin or digikam so it must be a gnome thing and this has been going on for the last 10 years or so. Does anybody know why?

If you don't install a bunch of dubious software from sites pressuring you to install it and use common sense, sticking with Windows 7 is the easiest option. I still used XP for years after support ended so what I did was create a limited account for going online to prevent any driveby downloads of malware from installing.
Upgrading to 10 or Linux isn't an option for everyone because of driver and program incompatibility.

even if you remove win10 bloat, it's still a terrible UI.... just doing simple operation that were a breeze on win7 is a chore.... just changing the file display options takes 3 operations instead of 1... WTH? What about changing script size to -readable- without making everything look out of focus? I think they had a meeting on how to cause RAGE fits in normal people.

Watching your video has made me think more, im having a very hard time parting ways. With features I love about it, so i just use windows media player. Absolutely no internet connection, im thinking windows 8.1 on it.

I cringed within the first 30 seconds of this video. Windows 7 is NOT dead and there's NO need to switch.
By the way, you don't recommend an OS that's maintained by an unknown third-party, regarding this so-called Windows AME... but apart from the big names, that's exactly what Linux is... an OS maintained by unknown third-parties.
