when was the last time you used Windows 10? The truth of the matter is that Windows 10 shipped unfinished in a beta state, and all the users were going to be subjected to bugs, security holes and a lot of things that would be really bad for their experience, this coupled with the fact casual users don't manually update ever and you would literally have casual users running the first iteration and an extremely buggy windows 10 version, that was going to quickly kill windows 10's reputation even if the things said about it are for out of date versions.
That's why it forced the updates, and that was if you weren't frequently updating manually or settings up the time you want it to update. Honestly the biggest problem for me wasn't that it was updating more like it was downloading the updates in the background, that was done so that it can update and close without you needing to wait 20 min for the download, again casual users would never manually start the update download on their own or be happy to see their computer taking 30 min to close.

I'm currently running Clear Linux with a Ezbook X3 from Jumper. Its a Celeron N3450 with Intel HD Graphics 500 and 8GB RAM, my laptop boots in seconds with Linux, and i takes over a minute to boot with Windows 10 or Linux Mint. (Off of its internal 128GB SSD) Also, when I play videos on any other OS, It drops many frames, and even at 720p it struggles to hold a steady 60fps, but using Clear Linux I can play 4K footage at 30fps or 1080p60 easily. I can't develop applications as I usually would on this though, all the packages are strangely named and I can't compile from source pretty much anything because of this. But it's very much worth the headaches for decent performance on a sub 300GBP laptop like this.

Hello Chris,
I'm pretty new to Linux and I have been thinking of installing Fedora on my pc.
At 10.52 you say that you would recomend Debian or Arch based Distro's because of the packages in there repo's. Is there a problem with he repo's used by Fedora or other RHEL based systems? Should I use Manjaro instead of Fedora? Or will I be fine.
Thanks in advance, and be save in these crazy times.
Kind regards,
Alastor

To me Clear Linux 32850 seems very unstable, I had three installs on the same hardware, failing in three different ways. How is this even possible? Only thing is that I changed the size of one partition and added one more bundle, between 1st and 2nd install. 2nd and 3rd install were identical, but different error.

Installing in a VM seemed to be very straight forward for me aside from having to set the boot from BIOS to UEFI. Not sure how easy it is to install on VirtualBox or VMware, but using the linux KVM hypervisor it just worked after changing to UEFI with no other tweaks.

Presumably, you can always just compile the programs yourself if the package manager doesn't feature them, right? Already had plenty of that in Pop OS/Ubuntu so meh. I guess if certain library dependencies are missing as well that could get kinda messy?

Could someone kindly explain why/how it beats Windows 10? A real world example please. I am not asking sarcastically nor trying to pick an argument, I genuinely want to use something which is beneficial to me, but would like to know its benefits first

The software makes more confusion. ..
What I hate is different version of same thing like piece of clothes and choices is hard to understand and have to listen the sales person who is selling certain product...

I tried, and it didn't like me; it was impossible to get work cups-pdf; and others apps don't meet all dependencies; the best I could do it is return to Manjaro, and with the best of Arch: AUR packages
