Optimize Windows for Gaming - Chris Titus Tech This shows you how to optimize windows 10 and 11 for gaming in 2022. Learn what game settings do what and settings you need to change in Windows. Elden Ring FPS unlocker: https://github.com/uberhalit/EldenRingFpsUnlockAndMore MSI Afterburner: https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-cards Kevin: Hello Chris thanks again for a great video. I don't know if everyone's aware but there is a new spectre version 2 lurking in the background. The word going around it's taking 20 to 25% on CPUs in certain workloads. AMD and Intel included. When you have a chance could you please look into this and if there's a way to get rid of the patch to improve CPU performance. Thanks again!

Chris, I've been experiencing an odd issue for the last month or so with my Windows 10, I'm curious if you've ever seen anything like this.
I put the computer to Sleep at night, and when I wake it up it's usually fine, but eventually, I'll be watching a video or something, and it will just buffer forever. This is when I know the internet on the PC no longer works. The LAN icon in the system tray still looks like a computer - not a wireframe globe indicating there's no internet access, but the system basically becomes unusable at this point. I can't open task manager, I can't open Device Manager, etc. Hell, even Restart seems like it's going to take forever, so I've taken to just holding the power button until it turns off, then turning it back on.
When the system reboots and I log in, it's a crapshoot if things will start properly. The services that run on startup sometimes start immediately like they should, sometimes nothing happens for about 2 minutes and then they all start at once, and sometimes they won't start at all, and I just have to reboot again, and keep repeating this until things will start properly.
Once things start, the system works flawlessly, usually for days or weeks, until I see the issue again. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but I can't just hose Windows and reinstall because I've got an in-progress modded Witcher 1 playthrough I don't particularly feel like finishing at the moment, and I'd probably never get all the mods installed in exactly the same way so that my save file would work if I reinstalled Windows, so I really need to finish that playthrough before I can reinstall, and I just don't feel like it at the moment.
I did run Malwarebytes but it didn't really find anything. I'd appreciate any advice you may have, but this is a shot in the dark - I'm not even sure you'll see the comment.

I-m using AMD 5600X + AMD RX6700XT 12GB VRAM + a 1080 FullHD 165Hz 0.8ms 24- monitor with -AMD FreeSync Premium- + -AMD SmartAccess Memory- activated via BIOS and all my games look great on highest graphics settings and with high FPS and they are all running fast and smooth without any third-party tools
Windows 10: change and influence automatic updates or deactivate them completely :
1. Press the [Windows] and [R] keys at the same time so that the -Run- command opens.
2. Enter -services.msc- here and confirm with -OK-. You will now receive a long list of all the services -Services (Local)-.
3. Sort the list above by name and look for the entry -Windows Update-.
4. Right-click this service and select -Properties-.
5. Change the -Start type- to whatever you prefer. Confirm the change with the -OK- button.
Warning: if you deactivate them completely important updates are no longer loaded either. If you want to use Windows Update again, simply undo the change.
I-ve set the -Start type- to -Manual- and since then I only make the updates when I want to and Windows hasn-t changed this setting independently so far, so that has worked so far, at least on my machines.

Microsoft really really should make a debloated -Windows Gaming- version.
- No telemetry
- Bare essential services needed for gaming and security
- No DesktopWindowManager
- Everything set on ultimate performance, always, gamers don't need battery saving/throttles
- Optimized task scheduler that priorities frame threaded I/O and higher priority tick rates of GPUMEM -> RAM -> CPU -> GPUMEM
x86 has it's limitations but I have seen games (with linux support) run at 18% better performance on custom linux kernel + task scheduler than on windows.
-Fullscreen optimizations OFF globally and possible to enable for the apps that need it (I'm looking at you Synapse!)
- Stop the bloody wait cycles of dormant drivers taxing the pci-e lanes. Why oh why does a sleep state NVME or a PCI-e usb3 card that has all the ports empty have to be 'just checking if I am really existing in this pc' every 30-35ms using up lane cycles? Why microsoft????
They would make billions on a gaming windows ESPECIALLY if it would be a 40$ usd add on to windows allowing you to dual boot into the gaming windows.
Not everybody needs to do their office work on their gaming rigs.....

When it comes to OC, some of it you're referring to is a bit misleading. When it comes to GTX / RTX cards, they tend to OC themself to a level of 98% max. as in it will OC itself to the maxium it can within 2-3%. OCing doesn't decress the life span much, we're talking a few months at max. If life span was such an issues nVidia wouldn't build there OC tools (GPU Boost) to hit as high as possible.
When we're talking cooling, you can OC a CPU a bit with a standard D15 Noctua cooler without to many issues, Every 100 Mhz is 1% more preformens ish.
I don't get where people get this misinfomation from in the first place? There're fail safes build into your cpu and motherboard to make sure nothing goes to bad it will burn. It might need a Reset of the CMOS but that's it.

Here's what I asked Microsoft too do regarding Windows 11 on their Feedback Hub -- can you add any of these to your software: 1) get rid of Recommended in the Start Menu, 2) bring back -never combine- on the Taskbar and put actives in the middle, 3) bring back right-click on the Taskbar, 4) bring back drag and drop to the Taskbar, 5) bring back groups on the Start Menu, 6) bring back resizing the Start Menu, 7) bring back putting everything in the System Tray, 8) get rid of the Show More in the right-click menu and bring back showing us everything there, 9) stop combining disparate icons in the System Tray (Network/Sound, Calendar/Notifications), 10) put the Power options back on the left side of the Start Menu.

Dude I like your videos over all but you skipped so many steps. Suggesting to change resolution over adjusting small settings like shadows to med or low, AA settings etc... Resolution change right out of the gate is a terrible idea. Resolution makes a large impact in graphics. You could have easily obtaiined 60 fps without changing your resolution and it still look great. There is many reasons why its best to keep your ingame resolution to max your monitor resolution. I should't have to tell you why.
You also didn't go over any Nvidia\AMD GPU Control Panel settings. There are many settinigs like max power settings you should change there as well...

I prefer to have a higher resolution and adjust graphics features . The first thing I would do with any game is look at PC Gaming Wiki to look for issues with the game that are causing fps issues/problems in general and then to find any optimisation videos for the specific game. These types of videos are great at identifying specific graphic features that have an impact on the fps and in some cases do almost nothing for the visuals.

hey chris! your nifty debloat tool mightve screwed up my gpu, i was playing a game on roblox, and barely anything was loading in. ive deleted the cache to see if that was the problem, and it looks like it isnt. i dont want to accuse you, since it could be a problem on my end, but after i did it, some things wouldnt load in. if you or anyone have some tips, please give me some.

OMG Im shadowbanned xD LMAO Ye keep up the good work :) 'We cant afford to have -negative- comments', right...
At least use the link to educate yourself so not spreading misinformation next time. Not that being right will give me unban or anything.
Instead of having a discussion-Nope. BAN, Next.... So childish from a grown man.
