Windows 7 Users Migrate To Windows 10 Rather Than Linux DistroTube Windows 7 will reach end of life in just two months. Many Windows 7 users are already ditching Windows 7 and moving to another operating system. The problem is: that operating system that those users are moving to is NOT LINUX. - https://wccftech.com/users-leave-windows-7-2-5-months-deadline/

This weekend, I figured out how to set up a dual boot of Linux and Windows 10 using easy bcd which is a program that helps you set up booter so you can boot into Windows or Linux. First I installed ubuntu. I uninstalled ubuntu because I hated the gnome-desktop. It felt too much like an android phone. Next, I tried Linux mint. I liked the Linux mint cinnamon desktop. Then I tried to get wine to work, my ep4 engine for keeping my CPU from turbo mode, tried to get some games to work and I downloaded some software. Then I tried the same stuff on manjaro. I felt that Linux mint and manjaro were spectacular operating systems for being free but they were such a hassle that they were not worth using instead of windows 10. Maybe if I ever got into building servers or something I would get into it. I got my windows 10 free from having windows 7.

I converted 1 laptop to Kubuntu a long time ago.
I am running Kubuntu off and on and gaming on one of my backup PCs.
I converted my brother's PC to Kubuntu yesterday. Mostly use Firefox.
My main PC: Ryzen 7 1800X. I will add another HDD and install Kubuntu. I am going to keep Win 7 around for playing Battlefield 1.
Windows 10 is not for me. Thank you Microsoft for a series of superb OSes: Win NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7. Starting from Win NT 4.0, it was a rock solid OS. I love the Win 95 GUI.
Starting from Win 8, it became too weird for me. I can't even run updates on Win 10 and the GUI looks weird.
PS: When Coca-Cola found a great recipe, do they change it every 5 y?

If you have a legit copy of Windows 7 then you'd be a dumbo not to migrate to Windows 10 for free. That's what most users do, including me. Later you experience endless Windows 10 update problems which cost you endless hours/days in trying to resolve them. By then you look for alternatives and discovered Linux Mint (or other Linux distros) which is more reliable, more secure and runs a whole lot faster. In fact you'd be thinking 'This is what Windows 10 should be like!- BTW, Microsoft agree because they have now shamelessly included a Linux sub-system in Windows 10. Yup. In future Windows 10 will be no more as it will become a Linux Distro. Fact of fiction? You decide.

I partly disagree. I think it's much more important what people grow up with. That will be their comfort zone and people generally want to stay in their comfort zone. That's why Windows 8(.1) failed and that's why the Windows 10 adaptation was slower than MS expected however much they tried to force it. 85% of the desktop users use Windows. Essentially 100% of the education trains Windows users instead of PC users and MS makes sure it stays that way. Therefore the next generation of PC users will grow up to be Windows users and only the more adventurous will adapt Linux.

Ive been building pcs for 16 years , I do all of my own auto body repairs , i repair and build everything in my own house , and am a carpenter by trade.....
but i don't want to move to linux because im not a -do it your selfer-?.........
People who run linux and have used linux for years....... are the MOST clueless when it come to why other people dont want to use it. Linux users will never open their ears and actually listen. Never will it happen becuase god forbid that they not know something.

I've ditched Windows in 2007 in favor of Mac, and I've never looked back. Now I have to use Windows 7 at work, and hate it. My laptop has German Windows 7, and to change it to English another license should be bought. F---!
My major deterrent against Linux as desktop used to be ugly fonts in GUI components, but this is a) gone by now, b) was never really a strong factor anyway. I've used Ubuntu and CentOS at work, and never had a problem in the past 8 years or so.

Linux is harder to use. Windows just works out of the box. It sucks, but it works. Using a command line is intimidating and takes a different part of the brain to execute than -click the shiny button-.
How do you edit 4k videos on Linux? How do you run Premiere Pro? How do you run Adobe Suite at all?
Its convienence. They need to ditch the command line and opt for graphical interface or at least do that for a version of Linux for windows users.

Linux will never be popular until Linux users stop thinking they are better then everyone else, im sorry but you guys are holding Linux Hostage, you dont want new people to use Linux, in fact... its really Easy to make a simple distro and recommand it to newbie, I use Linux for more then 5 years now to tell you this, you guys are the only reason why such a greate OS is complicated, Just quite being nerds ... its 2020 not the f---ing 90s.

The biggest reason that Linux isnt going to gain much market share is because Linux users are nerds and enthusiasts who actively seek it out. The average corporate user isn't going to be interested in learning a new operating system, they want the stability that windows offers. Hell, I bet most of the people in the IT department I work at don't use linux, and we are they type of -DIY fix it yourself- person that Linux appeals to.

Windows XP is still around. Why should this make a difference in Windows 7? Of course, those who want to stick to Windows should switch to a new version when their version gets outdated. No argument needed in their choice. The question that should be thrown to this blogger is why there-s a mass exodus of Windows 10 users to try Linux distros and switched when they got a hang of it - like myself.
