I may be mentally challenged, but how does one Scrot to clipboard?
I've set up Awesome WM shortcuts to save screenshots to a specific folder etc. But Awesome, doesn't seem to like me using Scrot -s in a shortcut with either awful.util.spawn or awful.spawn.with_shell, and I'm also struggling to figure out pairing it with xclip to get the screenshot to my clipboard.
Would it be easier for me to just use it with dmenu? and figure out copying it to clipboard via that route?

When I start staying in my terminal. I learn as many CLI applications as I can. That include a screenshot application. I use scrot all the time. I use the -c flag along with the -d flag as well. -d for delay like you shown, but I like to use the -c flag as well. -c for the count down from the delay number that you set.

scrot is great!!! I saved the video for later. Don't know yet if you talked about the clipboard management with it. This made me change to flameshot, that also allows to edit the screenshot with minimal GUI. Thanks on the video!

I've always had a small problem when using scrot -s (Interactively select a window or rectangle with the mouse): it tends to capture part of the selection line, unless a delay of 2 or 3 seconds is applied (with -d).

I think this would be good with a timer (scrot every x seconds), a resource monitor (htop or something) when running intensive programs. I don't see much others uses now but maybe I gave some of you an idea

For everyday screenshots I think Flameshot is the king because it pauses the screen and you can edit your screenshot before saving / copying to clipboard / upload to imgur

i am using maim with keyboard shortcuts that allows to capture area, and then opens the file with image viewer, really comfortable I think hexdsl has shown the script

on dwm, cant use keyboard to switch to a different window with the -s option.

Talking about using scrot in scripts - when used with imagemagick, it's useful for setting blurred/pixelated background when locking screen.

If I ever need it for a script I will probably use it but deepin screenshot is just so nice to use for a GUI way to take screenshots
