The problem is not the software you are using, or the fact that it is free and open source. It's knowing how to use it properly. Do you really think the proprietary alternatives you mention would be free of bugs without knowing them well? The correct aproach, especially if you are using a tool (it might be a software or basically anything else) that millions of people also use, is to think that you are using it wrong yourself, not that the tool is poor designed. That way one can learn much more and really be proficient using it, instead of complaining about it vaguelly (in the case of the audio server, in which you don't explain what bothers you about it). I really like your videos man, but sometimes I feel you rush so hard into making content that the content itself isn't valid or really doesn't say something meaningful. Kind of what chris titus does in ALL of his videos.

-5:30 Buy those programs while you can. Everyone seems to be moving to Software as a Service model. They basically want to tax us. Which is outrageous. Although it is kind of understandable too. In the early days systems and programs were changing rapidly, so people must have purchased new version every time. And also user base rapidly grew. Nowadays numbers are kind of stagnant and not that many of us would willingly pay for very new advanced feature, which normal person does not need (that much).

Holy Chit Mahn, DTD steps outside of his studio! Hi Daryl! I had heard something about Ubuntu
Mate 19.10 had an improved program for audio processing that has a built in audio recording capability.
As for how really good it is, I just don't know for sure, but I thought that i would drop that one on yah.

Hey Derek, I like free and open-source software myself but I use proprietary when I need to. I'm not being ironic or anything but I want to ask how do you stand posting videos in a site owned by Google when at the same time you use free and open-source only software?

without deeper knowledge of things like kdenlive: Bleeding-edge updates are often marked as 'unstable'. For production work, one should probably stay on the stable branch and let the brand new stuff wiggle out its quirks first.

Linux is great for work. Programming doesn't get any better than Linux. But the fact that it significantly limits my options for both PC gaming and VSTs means I will never go full-time Linux on my personal desktop.

I don't believe you need to pay for da Vinci Resolve to use it for commercial purposes. They make most of their money on the hardware.
