Hey DT! My Qt Programs Don't Look Good.- Plus Other Comments DistroTube In this lengthy rant video, I address a few questions and comments that I've been receiving from viewers. Some of the topics include why my 'ls looks different, how I record TTY, how am I getting along with EXWM, is YouTube still my only job, why I use Kdenlive over Davinci Resolve, and a couple of questions regarding virtual machines

I agree with your points for Kdenlive and against DaVinci Resolve. I have used both on Linux. I have had issues in the past with Resolve and with Kdenlive. They are both great, but from a technical/professional standpoint, there is no competition. Resolve wins. It is an industry-standard for color grading and has an insanely productive workflow and fast render times. I felt like I was settling for a less good piece of software when I got to Kdenlive. If you can get away with editing your videos with Kdenlive, that is really great and I agree with FOSS over proprietary, but in my opinion, Resolve is worth it for a Linux user that wants to have an editor that will serve them in the job market and has the torque to handle any type of workload. Resolve has a free license that has almost everything you need. In my opinion, it's worth checking out even if it's not FOSS. This is just my two cents, but I completely understand going 100% FOSS where possible even if that means sacrifices.

I installed Olive, DaVinci Resolve, and Lightworks. Each has their good and bad points.
Lightworks lacks export formats in the free version and lacks standard transitions. It is more like Final Cut in function than Adobe.
Olive has standard transitions, basic filters, and is more consumer level. The key frame editing is basic but workable, and the export formats are acceptable.
DaVinci has a learning curve worse than Adobe. It is much more powerful than the other two, though it lags behind Adobe. If you are an experienced video editor, DaVinci will be more your style.
Those are my opinions.

DaVinci Resolve SUCKS! You can't even import MP4 or MKV videos to edit them. If I try to import an MP4 or MKV format it shows for a brief moment before disappearing completely. So much for a so-called _-professional proprietary software-_ video editor if it can't support editing of MP4 or MKV video file types, the most commonly used video file types out there that people use. MPEG-4/AAC, MKV/H.264

Hey DT what do you think about Olive? Could be very nice if you can do a video confrontation between Kdenlive and Olive, just because I would like to understand the differences and which one is the best and user-friendly software. Thank you in advance and merry Christmas to you.

Hey DT, how to change atrocious new scrollbars in Qt applications with something more classic - like Plastik scrollbars?
Many applications seem to have scrollbars that are not normal ones - for example -Start Menu- in KDE, qtox, Jami. How can we get back normal scrollbars?

hey dt i had some troubles about manjaro kde freezes and i guess is about the NVIDIA GPU; you suggest to change to another arch-based distro like garuda, disable NVIDIA on majaro, or directly go on arch and invest next 100hours of my life and become really geek. Thanks!

Like- I don-t care about -why are you bald-... I don-t wanna know that. But why does it piss you off so much?? I could imagine if it-s some cancer thing; but some people are maybe just wondering dude. They might not be being a Dick. :P I don-t care why you-re bald, tho.

I wish any Linux video editor would support VST plugins well. I think DaVinci Resolve tries to, but I could never get it to detect any of them. I've had no luck with any editor, though, especially with the Windows plugins I run with WINE.

btw, your can make your qt programs respect your gtk theme by editing '/etc/environment'. Add 'QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2'. This is the trick that Chris Titus did
Edit) sorry, you gotta install qt5-styleplugins first on aur

FYI, Blender can also edit video and is quite good at it. It's more focused on 3D modeling and special effects and what not but the integrated video editor is really powerful. Blender is fully open source.
