I have been recommended void linux and I see it was not without reason. I will definetly give this a whirl. I might try this on my ryzen 3 3200g to begin with and then also try to figure out how well it works for gaming. I have several other machines that might also get it if I like it. Hmm.. maybe I AM forced to use a systemd based distro on my higher end systems like ryzen 3 and up and then just use void linux for older systems

GNU stands for -GNU's Not Unix- and the G is hard... Gnome is pronounced 'noum', since 'g' is silent... showing us an installation of a distro, is just that, any monkey can follow... to tell us about ANY distro is posting many videos with real issues and resolutions for them... as is, you Sir, as many out there likes the sound of your own voice... are you related to the King of the swamp by any chance..? sure it sounds like...

My biggest issue with void is that the installer doesn-t have any options for encryption. I haven-t tried setting up the encrypted volume beforehand, but if I-m gonna have to do all that work anyways might as well just go arch. Void is beautiful for its resource usage and ease of install, but I wish it-s install program had encryption.

Very nice introduction to this distro. This made me enthusiastic to try it out on my Dell i7 7737 laptop, after replacing my 250GB SATA disk with a 500GB SSD hard drive. I installed Void on it and followed what you did in this video. It's running extremely fast & smooth and this may be a keeper for me! Thanks a lot!

I'm trying to install Voidlinux on my Mac Mini right now. There's a PowerPC32 and 64 bit as well. Void is nice so far, I'm just learning how to use the package manager right now, getting used to the little quirks

I might try xfce if I can get rid of the redundant dock features in the top bar where it shows the tabs of the applications that are currently open. I only need/want one dock and I want to use Plank in the bottom center.

I usually just choose a distro for how good the name is, and in that aspect Void is at the top of the list.
The only issue is that I'm still kind of new to this, and there's a lot more documentation for Systemd.

Couple things- -xbps-query -Rs- searches both repos AND locally installed, if you have just the -R searches repos only. Also, the installer isn-t ncurses, it-s a set of shell scripts that uses dialog.

Recently made the switch to Void from Endeavour. Great distro so far, not such a high update frequency (which I like). I'm also fond of runit as the init system, super easy to configure and maintain!

I just installed the 32-bit version in an old laptop with minimal resources and seems ok. It definetely has some rough edges, but feels more solid and easier to use with xfce4 than freebsd.
