Sorry for the audio. I recorded with the gain too high, which made it very difficult to fix in production. Here are some things to mention:
-1)- Personally, I have used Windows Defender the last 4 years, and never suffered an infection. I run a Malwarebytes full scan once a month to make sure nothing slipped. Nothing has slipped Windows Defender yet. Also, don't enable real-time monitoring within Malwarebytes if you're using an AV, since there can be conflicts. Only use Malwarebytes for manual scanning. To reiterate, if you're not a tech savvy user, I would recommend using a highly reviewed antivirus, in combination with Malwarebytes.
-2)- Another downside to antiviruses is how much they cling to your OS. Some of them are EXTREMELY difficiult to uninstall. These are always a hassle. and they can potentially damage your OS during the uninstallation process, requiring a full system restore.
-3- Don't forget to get a decent firewall! Firewall is very commonly agreed to be an absolute necessity. Windows has built in firewall, but there are better services out there. Comodo and Tinywall seem to be well spoken of.
-4)- Never forget to backup your computer! Anything can happen, and performing monthly or bimonthly backups can be the difference between losing time, and losing something important in your life.

The major malware is Apple and Windows running closed source OS, switch to Free OS like BSDs and GNU/Linux. I use both and don't have to use any AV/AM till now. I used ClamAV once to help scan drives for friends and family as those were infected. Pretty soon they used freeware WPS office(replacement of MS office) with GNU/Linux and dumped Windows.

Joke answer 1: Just follow the golden rule of Windows 10: Third party AVs are not okay. Use Windows Defender, it is built in.

No antivirus has ever protected me from an actual threat, actually threatning programms always broke through. Which has happened a total of 2 times over 12 years and one of the times I was to blame myself, the other one was a driveby download from Adfly in 2013 which the antivirus did not stop.

I don't use any antivirus aside from the windows built-in. Everything else is just pure shit, nothing but ads, spam, worse performance and false alarms. I download tons of files every single day and my pc is just fine. For me at least, antiviruses are nothing but adware and a cashgrab

This site I iffy. Of one goes to the main page and selects best stc, one will clearly see that Defender is far from the top. I have seen that id one follows a link for any such program it will give glowing reports, but if one clicks into The Best etc, a very different story

What do you think about Norton AV? It is getting more expensive each year to use NAV, and I am thinking about using other AV to cover all my 10 users at home. So what do you recommend? Thank you for your video.

I use avast free cause my defender doesnt work so well, because 1. It doesnt do automatic scans
2. the real time protection is always off and idk why so idk i guess is better if i stick to avast do you think?

I personally use bitdefender because it-s the best I have used Kaspersky before but it-s unstable and crashes and their detection is similar but I use bitdefender because it-s more stable

windows defender is enough! but i had a virus that uses all my cpu but when i open task manager it stops and it hides itself but i managed to delete it manually and its named SoundMixer!
