How are we able to buy GPUs? And more of YOUR mining questions answered! - Sebs FinTech I sit down together with The Hobbyist Miner (https://www.youtube.com/c/TheHobbyistMiner) and together we answer 6 of the most commonly asked questions we get about mining. We start out by talking about how to buy GPUs and how we are able to keep buying graphics cards in 2021. In short, buying GPUs in 2021 comes down to either paying with your money, or paying with your time. Meaning that to find graphics cards to buy you either have to pay scalped prices, or you have to put in time and effort into finding them at retail price. We then talk about how to overclock your GPUs for mining and why just copying our overclock settings will not give you the same hashrate. The third question we answer is why we picked the specific GPUs that we have for mining. After this we talk about what mining pools are and how crypto mining payout work. We get questions about when to get paid or why you haven't gotten any crypto into your wallet yet after having mined for a while, and we're hoping we answered that. The fifth question we answer is if right now is a good time to buy GPUs for mining or if you should wait for prices to go down. Do we think GPU prices will go down in 2021? Lastly, we talk about how to get set up mining on a spare desktop computer that you might have. Thank you so much to The Hobbyist Miner for joining me in this video, check out his channel below: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheHobbyistMiner

I really enjoy the content and regularly use it as my mining reference library. The duo or interview format is a great occasional flavor.
Thanks to you, I am using T-Rex commands, Just the '-d' so far so I can use say a 3060 and some 3070 in 1 rig for different algos based on profitability.
Also learning how and when to trust Whattomine. When RVN or ERG says better than ETH but it's close, I don't need to switch because my clock settings can stay on ETH and do better.
Mining just keeps getting better and more fun.
>>My questions change daily but one that won't go away is how best to understand over/under clocking settings, what they each mean individually, what they are expected to do individually or in conjunction with the others. Power limits %, Memory Clock mhz, Core clock mhz, core voltage, and the intensity setting in T-Rex.
Just when I think I have a great group of settings, ambient temps or the market cause efficiencies and hashrates to fluctuate. The best thing I have seen for this is the MCC setting in OCTUNE when using NH Quickminer where it adjusts settings to maintain a temp range.

Another question. I remember that you said in one of your videos (I don't know which one right now), that you had to buy a bigger HD, because every new card that you add to the rig, consumes x virtual memory. If I want for instance to add 13 x 1660 Super to a rig (using Asrock H110 Pro BTC+), would a 240GB HD be enough?. Also, what MoBo do you recommend for creating a rig?. I know that if a MoBo has not so many PCIe ports, that you can use a card to be able to connect up to 4 GPUs to just 1 PCIe port, but I don't know if there would be an issue with the MoBo, if it has just 5 PCIe ports and you try to connect 11 GPUs, for instance. Thanks! EDIT: This card has 6 PCIe ports: MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX (Amazon link was erased by YT I don't know why). Would it be possible to connect 12-13 GPUs?.

One thing I want to point out, and I know this is kind of an apples to oranges situation, but the thing about the new cards is more efficiency. Price wise you might be able to find a deal where you manage 3 1660 supers for the price of a 3070, but most likely its 2 with some left in your pocket. If we assume 3 then its 90+- mh/s at roughly 240 watts of power. A 3070 is 64+- at 130. Granted I agree that for someone getting into it, shelling out 2500 for a fully built rig with one 3070 is a crazy investment for something you may or may not do for the future

I just picked up a brand new 3070ti for $1200 Canadian, from a scalper, with receipt and unopened, which is $150 above what they go for in all the retail stores here, when they come in stock...honestly just a week ago you wouldn't find one for less than $1350. So i was ok with paying the extra all things considered. Scalper Prices do seem to be dropping pretty quick here, i hope it keeps up. lol

I disagree on 1660s. I own 1660s and 3070. My 3070 make 61 MH 125 W ($950 each). My 1660s make 31 MH 70 W (each $400-500). And, 1660s tend to be problematic with RVN. I bought recently a lot of 6800 XT which do 62 MH 125 W ($1000-1150 each) but they do +50 % better with RVN, ERG, than 3070. So, yes, as you said, it depends on the availability of the cards in your region.

Brother thanks alot for the huge informations you are providing i have a very important question i hope you can help me answer it :
In any mining software it shows total power consumption, my question is dose those numbers are (with or without ) the gpu riser power connector ?

Thats amazing because you have many of exactly the same cards seb. Do u get lucky and buy many at a time or are you patient and wait for exact cards? Either way its the way to do it. I just want like 5-10 1660 supers or something like that i be happy.

I've mined nicehash thru the Phoenix bug on my gaming rig, turned mining rig later on , it's still mining nicely, I payout manually once a week .001 BTC will be doing this until I have a rig that does .01 btc a week

Thank you. I'm a fan of both of you guys. Good advice for the miner starting out with one or 2 GPUs. My beginner choice is Raven Coin. I'm having lots of fun seeing my wallet accumulate the coin.

I have Asus B365-G gaming Motherboard. What will be the BIOS setting for mining?
I used riser 1x to 16x for my 2nd card but 2nd GPU does showed up in device manager.
