It seems necessary to put in headers first, then page numbers. Trying the reverse, the headers merge with the page numbers, unless there is a way to keep them separate.

Hello I am so struggling with this. When I try to insert on my first page. meaning I want all chapters to the right (odd pages) i unlink and still it is not working

No idea how you found that page number dialogue box. Much too quick. Can't find it in Word 365 for Windows 10.
