Rob, all of this is very disturbing of course, and the fact that people aren-t going absolutely nuts about the file identification thing is pitiful. However I have to question one element of this.
The idea that Apple could be using the device microphone to listen and search for keywords using the on device AI.
I-m a voiceover user, meaning that the speaker or speakers on my phones are in constant use whenever I-m using the device. However whenever dictation is used, or anything that takes over the microphone, the audio subsystem gets very hinky. Either the speakers stop altogether, which is the preferred outcome; or in some cases things will switch to the handset speaker, or the speaker will go to a low Fidelity mode.
This can be observed anytime the microphone is in use simultaneously with the speakers, such as when doing screen recording with audio.
The bottom line being that Apple-s audio subsystem is half duplex at best, when it comes to using the speaker and microphone simultaneously. If they continue to use that audio subsystem, and ever do attempt to perform constant audio monitoring, it-s going to royally screw up the use of the phone-s audio subsystem, and will be very noticeable.
I should note that any of the effects that I have described do not automatically reset themselves in many cases; and when they do they do not do so immediately. You can-t switch instantly from microphone to speaker use without observing some kind of effect. I have been using Apple products for over 10 years, and while the situation has improved, it hasn-t really been repaired and they have shown no interest in repairing it. Which is a good thing in the context of your video.

Thank you SO much for your honesty and integrity, Rob! Sadly it did not dawn on me that most of the tech info on you tube would be like the medical info - done by 'agents' of the agenda - whether paid directly or indirectly. Now I understand why Apple made these fabulous new laptops so affordable - so peons like me would bite at having the ability to purchase the newest, latest, greatest model. Sadly, I did not find you until recently and you were okay with the new MacBooks still. so I purchased one, and believe it is too late to return it. I am going to start researching how I can sell it now and hope I can get reimbursed some and buy a low cost PC in the meantime (I don't have $ to burn - so this is a hard loss. I had saved for this laptop for a long time, but I will always be bothered by it and peace of mind is more important than any amount of $. Thank you.

Hi, This is off topic, maybe not, I think you make the pitch, for.
Startpage. I downloaded it, I didn't make it my preferred search engine, nor did I install it on my start page. I have a desktop icon.
This morning, I opened it up to try a search. It loaded a game, and I had the hardest time to escape. There was a 'Clise' X top right, I clicked it, it left the running game and went to the game's home page. I turned off the phone, and it was still open, full screen. I couldn't close it.
It was early, I forgot how I closed it, but again I tried to do a search, another game opened. This one was supposed to make me smart. I got that closed somehow. I searched some dumb thing it opened, and a full page Facebook ad opened, full page.
Startpage is closed now, I'll try a couple more times before I uninstall it.

You are mixing privacy and security with chip performance. These are complete different topics. I easily choose Apple privacy, security, and productivity over the Microsoft (Windows 10) counterparts. And yes the M1 APU is a game changer for the industry. Intel just can-t compete with their core i cpu in the consumer market. They can-t even compete in the low end market. Just try to edit photos and videos with a sub $1000 laptop the same way you would edit it on a Macbook Air with M1. The M1 apu is way more energy efficient and at the same time more powerful compared to a intel core-i cpu in that category. I know what I-m talking about because I own a Macbook Air for almost a year and use it for photo RAW editing.

1) as of today Apple disabled the CSAM scanning due to the backlash received, 2) Even IF enabled. You have to have icloud photo sharing enabled. Turning that off, also stops the AI from scanning locally. 3) Yes, it compares a hash to KNOWN CSAM images. If something new was taken or turns up. It cannot detect it. 4) When it comes to iMessage. They were clear that the scanning of private images could only be activated under a shared family account. If you have your own account attached to a device that is not related to a family account, the -feature- will not work. Even with the feature turned on. It only alerts those who owns that family account. Apple has no connection to the media shared.

Rob, I watched your video from start to finish, found through someone else recommended link. But, I can't seems to find the answer to -why should I care? -. There are so many other aspect of life that need my attention like food, rent, bills, etc. Why should -not giving Apple, or whoever, my privacy- be a concern to me? If they help me find my keys/wallet in the morning through BLE tags so that I'm not late to work, why should I care about what they are doing with my keys/wallet location?
Don't get me wrong, your video gave some great points about data privacy. But without the -why should we care-, you just sound like a paranoid uncle.

Please keep up the good work, I have an iMac and block all thing related to the Apple software, Apple is not to be trusted, I don't own the latest and greatest mac products, but the iphone is off the menu and has been for years. They had tracking capabilities as far back as iPhone 4 which was the last iPhone I had and hack the iPhone to block the tracking, thanks again. As for your next subject if location location is all good, then you are going to love what shops and shopping centres or mall can do, they track you as well by your phone either by bluetooth or wireless pinging and they collect your mac address.

Hi Rob, I always have Find my iPhone turned off and Location services all turned off. when i use my VPN and its using a server from USA, does apple scan for WiFi networks in that VPN location? or uses my real home location from Find my iphone when I activated my iPhone when I first got an iPhone, as Apple uses this as default once known.

Why would Apple capture so much data about us? Apart from the obvious money, they-re one of only a few hundred global companies partnered with the World Economic Forum who are committed to The Great Reset. If power corrupts, this level of power and influence should concern us all. Who really benefits? It-s certainly not us.

Had to watch after you mentioned the hate from FanBoys of M1, this video is definitely confirmation of my view of Apple, and privacy. Pegasus isn't just a problem of Apple, but inside Apple it self. Yes Android has it's Google issues too, but at least android you have custom ROMs to degoogle. Thanks Rob
