My Ubuntu 20.04 Distribution is Awesome - Chris Titus Tech My Ubuntu 20.04 Distribution is Awesome Traded in Arch for Ubuntu... does it matter? The Full Install Live Stream: https://youtu.be/bq1HV3Finyg Red: -2:52 There is always more than one way to do thing in Linux. Yes, you can do anything with Linux From Scratch what you can do with Ubuntu if you have no life. :D
-3:13 Da more ya know, da easier it gets. It is always a trade-off between freedom and convenience. If you install Kubuntu 20.04, it is IMHO at least 80% ready out of the box. You maybe have to add a ppa for Mesa driver, a cronjob for Trim, mscorefonts and clearfonts for Libreoffice, install testdisk, restore your home directory with rsync, add your 2nd drive to the fstab for automounting. Install some programs including Steam. Otherwise, a Linux pro user perceives Ubuntu too dated and too bloated and brags about himself using a window manager with 30 keyboard shortcuts.

I have been using Ubuntu 18.04 Linux for about 5 years now but still feel like a newb. I have a lot of frustrations with learning and customizing it so I really need your help. As a hard core Windows user and developer, I don't really understand Linux as you talk about it in this video. This there any guide out there that can help me to really learn Linux from the ground up? I want to know how to customize it to my exact needs and have a very minimal install of just the software I need to serve my purpose. I need something rock solid stable. Here are my basic needs. 1. SMB Server. 2. VirtualBox. 3. Kodi Media Center. 4. Video Editing Software. 5. Basic Browser (Chrome).

ok, there is one thing that i struggle to do in any distro, but i got sucessful (almost) only on ubuntu linux, on other ones i just couldn't figure how to...
I have a radeon graphics card, on windows to switch from ycbr to rgb i just go to the radeon software and do it with a few clicks, on linux... well... how can i do it? only thing i found that worked out was a very hacky one on ubuntu linux

I don't care much for Gnome which is I prefer Mate. The Mint version with Mate is easy as it has media support built in and Mate Tweak to change the desktop theme. I don't do much customization. Simpler is better for what I do. The LTS is one advantage of Ubuntu and distros based on it. Kind of like using Windows with streamlined selection of open source apps. Thanks for another informative video.

Also put in Ubuntu 20.04 lately. I feel the need to know more about Linux in general. But it's clear that there are differences in the way that things are done with the different distros. Red Hat (which I co-ran on my old PC with Win XP around 2003) had a different way about it. Can you recommend a good Linux textbook for Ubuntu users ?
By the way - didn't you have a cat ? Where is it now ?

if you are running older hardware 20.04 seams rather buggy this has got me looking at Q4OS that is a user friendly Debian based on the new deb 10.
Q4 comes with KDE plasma or trinity desk top trying it on my most picky box that is Intel based with Intel graphics so far so good.
just thought I would bring this to your attention as it is something new and user friendly.

I have to completely agree. I've been a Debian user for years and just didn't know why I would ever use Ubuntu. However, recently I decided to download and install Ubuntu 20.04 just to give it a try. The result....it is absolutely brilliant. I've customized the desktop and had no issue finding the software I regularly use. It is really great and I'm pleased I gave it a chance.

I agree with this completely !! I can take any distribution and make it look however I want. The biggest mistake I see people doing that are newbies, and a lot of them are, is they install whatever distro has the look they want and give no consideration to the guts of it or who is supporting it or backing it.
