Hi Chris. I'm trying to setup something equivalent to pfsense firewall on Ubuntu using Webmin (GUI and user friendly). It would be great if you could show step-by-step how you setup your standard filtering rules (especially in connection with Fail2Ban) using Webmin GUI. I know that Webmin can import properly created IPTables save file, but a nice HowTo of the Webmin GUI in setting up firewall simply does not exist on Youtube. I understand that pfSense became a standard, but FreeBSD is quite conservative with updates and new hardware (even more than Debian) and quickly falls behind with major packet updates. For example it was a long battle for me (which I lost) to enable SSL hardware acceleration on pfSense, yet in identical hardware configuration I was so surprised to see that Ubuntu supported it out of the box. I think that creation of a viable user friendly alternative to pfSense using Ubuntu would be a hit. And of course, I would like to do other nice things on the same box for which pfSense is not designed, but Ubuntu wouldn't mind at all.

Hi Chris, thanks for the video. I am new to all of this, 1) could be please share I assume your .bash_profile or section of it that configure that nicely colored system prompt showing the current folder. 2) is there a terminal/shell which has an interactive history I can click on, instead of trying to use Ctrl-R reverse search. 3) please include all the main commands you use in a given video in the description, I have hard time copying them pasting them from your videos. Perhaps in 3030 you will be able to pause a video and do a copy paste, HAHA :) I installed debian on my first VPS, perhaps that was a mistake and should have gone with ubuntututu or KillmeManJaro :)

Just after 2:00 minutes you suggest that webmin needs apache mysql and php to work. This is entirely untrue. If it was webmin would be next to useless to me. The beauty of webmin is it runs in its own tiny PERL based web server which runs entirely independently of apache mysql and php. Therefore you can use it to install/uninstall, configure/ missconfigure, break and repair apache, mysql, postgres, postfix, samba, & all other servers to your hearts content safe in the knowledge that it will always keep running to fall back on and save the day.

i use virtualmin which has webmin, later i try to use cwp centos panel but i couldnt decide which one to use. i use virtualmin over year but some told, its not for web site hosting, i am confused now. Cwp is also so slow even i make php ini settings and still i am lost, can some one suggest idea. Thank you

I would have liked it if you had elaborated on why you don't like the screens you don't like! Also, the dark theme is not so easy to see. I am not sure if it has to do with my age. Perhaps it does, I am 53, or night blindness (although I am watching this video at 10 AM but I figured I mention it).

I'm probably doing something really dumb, but I'm trying to add webmin onto my google cloud vm (Debian 9 LAMP) and it installs fine, but I can't access it using the external IP and port 10000, it just times out. Any help much appreciated!

I have installed tomcat 7 to my linux server without using webmin, but i want webmin to reflect the newly installed tomcat server to webmin GUI but it's not happening. What do i have to do to reflect installed tomcat to webmin?

Maybe its just me but I find that webmin doesn't work perfectly for everything and I end up using the terminal anyway and I find it faster to use terminal but I haven't used webmin for a couple of years

I've tried several times to install webmin with no luck. I tried both Ubuntu server 18.04 and 20.04 in Virtualbox and it always freezes at about 45% while unpacking webmin. Anyone have any ideas?
