The AMD fanboism is so out of control this year. There's been SO much hypocrisy on so many layers through not only the rabid fans but it's the reviewers that shock me. Zen 2 and Navi are finally great parts from AMD I haven't considered buying since Barton. But the complete adoration poured upon AMD when their pricing leapfrogged Intel is hypocrisy. Intel is price gouging - $2k but TR isn't? It's LITERALLY the same chiplets as 3950 but costs almost 3x as much, and even THOSE carried a premium cause they're the same chiplets as the 3700. This keeps production costs down and maximizes profit margins.
Nvidia- OMGRTX!

Reviewers- OMGPCIE4! Totally worth the price premium! 1! 1! Even though 99. 99% of the hardware out there still can't saturate PCIE3.
We can't crucify Intel and Nvidia for price gouging but ignore AMD pulling that shit the SECOND they have a superior part. Fanboys hurt everyone. I mean, people actually bought 2080TIs. Don't send them the message that this pricing is ok.

Hmmm, at 5 minutes in you show a chart with the 16 thread i9-9900KS at 14, 717 vs the 64 thread -Threadripper- at 44, 711, which is like comparing a 1990's 4 cylinder Mustang to a brand new 8 cylinder Mustang RTR with 700+ horsepower. You must do a theoretical projection if you do not have a comparable thread count Intel CPU, so take the i9-9900KS and quadruple it to equal 64 threads and you get a Threadripper shredding 58, 868 making the 64 -core- Threadripper look like it got its teeth knocked out. My point is, can we at least keep it -apples to Apples, or Core count to core count?

There's no point in criticizing AMD for nixing X399. The tech community has given Intel a pass on constantly killing off sockets and chipsets for the last decade. Some even going so far as to vigorously defending Intel's arbitrary chipset changes. Suddenly when AMD tries to address their TR NUMA issues (as well as adding PCIE 4. 0, a chipset/socket change becomes a point of criticism?

Might be worth noting that stuf like cpu instructions for AI acceleration are irrelevant since these loads will in practice not be accelerated by some wierd intel x86 instruction, instead they will use gpgpu API's to accelerate these computations. Add some gpu's to that equation and the those instructions become useless (or maybe of limited use if one API becomes a thing.

Very impressed with AMD's progress with Ryzen 3, my next build will still be an i910980XE though as I need the low latency and real-time performance for audio recording/production, amongst a whole bunch of other software suites and workflows (from 3D rendering to video editing/exporting, Photoshop, After Effects etc. Intel is still the best for my personal needs.

AMD's Ryzen has been making inroads on Intel for several years. The latest generation of Threadripper (and also the Ryzen 9 3950X) allows them to slip past Intel, which hasn't been developing new products as much as making incremental improvements on its existing line. In the PC world (pun unintended, you innovate or die.

No thank you. I'll get a 10980xe given it can reliably OC at 5. 2Ghz on all 18 cores + superior platform. Had AMD released a 16 core TR3 I would've gone for it. Besides 10980xe will serve me well till 2021 and by that time Intel will bounce back and wash AMD like they have done in the past.

OMG, why can no one compare similar core or thread CPUs? Its not like they are not out there, this seems pretty pointless as if you project performance as i commented below then the Intel CPUs destroy like thread chips from AMD, i can only guess that you are going by PRICE ONLY.

When you were talking about -Now you can get $100 quad cores- I was thinking about the Ryzen 1600 for $79 with $30 off when you buy a MB from Microcenter.
And even the Ryzen 3500 which has to come in well under $200. That will have to hit $100 when Ryzen 4xxx comes out.

This all makes me wonder what the 64c/128t Threadripper 3990WX will do against Intel's 56c/112t Platinum Xeon 9282.
Intel's Xeon 9282 isn't actually available to consumers, only enterprises, and its pricetag sits somewhere in the $20K - $30K.
