we will not only use but also understand the concept of Depth Maps and how the Lens Blur filter works in Photoshop outdoors2003: Hii, I came through your detailed videos recently. Love the way you present & explain the techniques. In this above video, You have told to use any tool for selection. You used quick selection tool and after that the options appears. In which, you selected 'Select & Mask'. When I tried to follow your steps, there was no option like 'select & mask'. Instead, there was just refine option. I'm using Photoshop CS6, version 13. What should i do?

Great tutorial! I was trying to figure out how to create a gradual blur on the background of one of my photos, and you explained everything so well, as always. The only thing that was different for me was that once I had created the blur I did not have to disable the mask. Not sure why, but it did not hide the blur for me. Anyhow, I was able to achieve my objective very nicely.

Hello! First off, thank you so much for this video! I just have a problem around 9: 10. I'm not able to go back to my original background. When I select Lens Blur, the original background shows up in the preview but will not actually restore to the photo I'm working on. If you could help me, I would be so grateful!

Fantastic - informative, explanatory, step-by-step. Many years ago I came across the statement, Expect ingratitude, which I've never understood why that seems too often to be the case. So, from just one person in the other corner, let me express my sincere gratitude for your most excellent training videos. Thank you!

I've followed along with your directions perfectly and had great results. For some reason it isn't working with Photoshop 2021. When I go into lens blur, it won't load the image. I've gave it plenty of time. It will show me the original image if I deselect preview, but that's it. Any ideas?

Thank you so much for great explain video. I just learned a few thing that frustrated me so much, when noting happens because I didnt notice the selction was on white. lol! and I Really appreciate how you explain the Black & white button which make that function works

Just a heads up, any real photographer will look down on you for doing this, most of the time.
And no, no matter what you think, you cannot recreate the true bokeh look by blurring your image. It looks cheap, and refined eyes know it.

I was manually going in and adding the light blur (hexigonal shapes) to my pictures this entire time! I was too lazy to take a further look into what all of the lens blur controls were! facepalm

Which version of photoshop you are using to blur. I want the same perspectives as it like this. Please tell which version used that you shown in the video? Please please reply to this

Great tutorial cant thank you enough. I cant' seem to find the Opacity option. I see transparency option but it is not working the way Opacity is working for you in this. I use PS2020.
