I found your smoothing action to be a perfect way to create a greyscale relief bitmap of a portrait for 3 axis CNC wood carving. Due to my lack of expertise it took me several hours to refine the image to ensure a smooth transition from the nose (white) to the background (black. The resulting 3D wooden relief was stunning. If you ever get the time, i would love to see how you would use your contour smoothing action to create a 3D greyscale of a portrait suitable for a CNC relief carving. Thank you for showing this amazing technique.

Damn. I'm a woman and I didnt know what contouring means and he teaches me
Edit: I posted the above statement 1 minute into the video. After seeing the full video, I honestly have full understanding about makeup, for the first time in life. Doing it is another thing entirely, but at least I got the theory.

Hey this is really awesome. Can't wait to try it. The lighting on this example is quite flat though. I'd love to see an example of this technique on an image say with shadow on one side of face or one that already has highlights etc?

I made a tutorial on this D&B approach years ago, but I used a paintbrush and changed the blending mode, so it wasn't the best workflow. Using the curves adjustment layers is by far a better solution! Thanks dude

What would I do without you, Unmesh! This is fantastic! Love this technique. I'm surely going to utilize this when needed in my portrait retouching from now one! Thanks bro! :)

I can only imagine the gigs of hard drive space I could have saved from when I first started and was using the dodge & burn tools destructively on layer after layer lol

You are outrageously talented. Dodge and burn has been so frustrating for me. This video, and the precious one you did have REVOLUTIONIZED my dodge and burn

Buenisimo! Existe alguna diferencia en hacer el mismo proceso con una capa de niveles con fusion Trama y otra con fusion Multiplicar?
