Discover the right way to turn a photo into a painting of any style with Generative Fill in Photoshop! In this lesson, we ll learn how to use Gen Fill with a reference image using alpha channels and transparent selections. We ll also learn to create different levels of painting to eventually create a composite. To make it simpler, we ll learn how to use a free Photoshop action to turn your photo into an oil painting, sketch, watercolor, or even a cartoon. Brilliant! I used to watch Russell Brown back in the mid nineties on TV. I think it might have been on Photoshop TV with Scott Kelby?!? Thanks for all your great content and best to you and everyone in 2024!!

How about printability?
Edit: Sorry, I have to rephrase it. The reason I'm asking is, that: I especially bought a plug in like that for Photoshop in the past. And it produces not pretty artefacts around every brush stroke. Invisible if you used it as a gimmick for social media but unusable for print. So it's a question about quality not size.

What an inspiring tutorial, thank you! I'm looking for the possibility to convert a photo into the style of a specific painter (Isaac Israels, Dutch painter). Does anyone have a suggestion on how to achieve this with Gen Fill? Thanks in advance.

Amazing Unmesh! Another tip to try is using oil painting photoshop brushes to paint on the layer masks. You can control the direction/size/amount of brush strokes, revealing the painting beneath.

This video is a perfect demonstration of how one can use AI without losing the human touch. Also we can come to the conclusion that AI would really help us rather replacing us.

Awesome tutorial but your picture is not working for me as oil paint portraits in general the subject is not smiling widely showing the teeth.
