If you need access to a scientific paper (whether one has access to such libraries as Athens or not), could searching in Google Scholar help you track down papers with the relevant word as the intitle , and if so, is it a quicker response than searching through all the various journal hubs? I found Athens a touch long in the process of finding an appropriate paper (when doing subject reviews rather than whole-title finds) and would love Google's speed to work as if on each journal's site. I'm not asking for back door ways to get into paywall journals (though it's tempting! The prices are ridiculous!), just to be told a whole title after looking for one major title word, and where it is. As I'm not a student anymore, I need access to free journals for personal studies and have no more access to Athens or its equivalents. Thanks for these tips. They're always useful and I've adopted some to great success while proofreading something very scientific. I'm not scientific! The define command was a godsend recently :-D

Much like the + and - operators, Google search also has the AND and OR operators. For example, I can search for iTunes OR Spotify and I'll get pages that mention one or the other. If I search iTunes AND Spotify I'll get pages that mention both, but without having a direct relation. (try it and see what I mean) Note that these operators have to be used in all caps to work.

I really enjoyed this but I wish you would make programs a little slower for someone like me I can't remember all these searches maybe you could focus on one at a time what the great things to do with that one search sorry slow! But I'm sure I'm not the only one! There's so much great content but I just can't remember all of them all

Very informative video. I was wondering what the best trick is that I could use to search for a specific artist and upcoming tour dates/tickets? Would I type in the artist s name and use the (+) tour like you did in the Tom Cruise example? Just trying to find the best way to search for shows around the Country. Thank you in advance!

I use cached when I need to reference something on a site that company blocks. My company blocks tumblr but some tech sites (I m looking at you Meraki) link to images on that site and viewing the page without the image breaks the HTML making it impossible to read. Cached works around this issue.

I misspoke in the intro to this video when I say there are 10 search tips, when there are actually 12 tips in total mentioned in this video. Many of the search tips mentioned in this video may also work with other search engines like DuckDuckGo, StartPage, and others. Thanks for watching :)

Your first suggestion made me laugh. I set his PC to default to Google as the search engine. He then proceeded to use it one time to look for Yahoo :). By the way, he is over 80, and generally doesn't give a hoot about technology. Thanks for uploading by the way...

I know this is so annoying of me to ask but is there anyway you could put a list of the times and their corresponding tips in the description? I keep coming back to this video for the tip and have to watch the whole video to find the tip I need.

I like to click on the small camera icon in image search and upload an image of ,say, an item i am selling and seeing it on other sites or eBay. Also for fun my own face. Apparently Michael Caine looks like me. Lucky him.
