I freely admit I'm very leery about doing something like reloading my operating system so I have a question or two. First, if I use this device and reload, will all of my other files be wiped at the same time? Second, if I reload my OS will any malware or viruses be removed at the same time? Third, if I renew my OS is there someway to ensure that Microsoft no longer has access to my machine ? I changed some settings a few years ago to accomplish this but I cannot remember how and I don't remember where I got the instructions.

I ran into an issue the other day trying to get my father's computer working. when I tried to create the drive, it would always fail at the same place (around 50%). What I ended up doing was creating an iso and then burning to a flash drive.
Grant it, his computer was fairly old (10 years or so) which may explain why it initially failed creating the flash drive.

When I got my current computer a year ago, one of the very first things I did was try this back up, just to be safe. It didn't work, don't know why. So I back up all my data every few days as that's the important part.
