The #1 Back Exercise. JUST GOT BETTER!

The #1 Back Exercise in my opinion is arguably not the pullup or the dumbbell pullover exercises. No, for sheer mass, depth and back thickness. the best back exercise for my money is the bent over barbell row. Well imagine if there was a way to make that bent over barbell row even better? There is. by using resistance bands to assist the movement in its most difficult part of the rep! When you're performing the bent over row back exercise, the hardest part of the rep is the bottom where you need to overcome inertia and get the weight moving, all while needing to keep your lower back safely secure and stabile. Believe me. it's quite the challenge and really, with most people failing to do this correctly they usually wind up abandoning the exercise all together and this is a big mistake. Don't stop doing this #1 Back Exercise unless you want less than the best results! When you're done watching this video make sure you visit

That is about as much as I jerk my body when I perform this lift and I kind of think it's too much. I have a long neck like Jeff and when I saw a cell phone video of myself doing it it's really comical b/c my head is jerking at the opposite direction of my torso. I'm trying to stay as stable as possible, but it's hard when the weight is heavy. I'm not sure how much jerking (no pun intended) is acceptable -- do you think what he's doing in the video is okay? I think it's borderline too much. It's 2 things - he's using momentum to get it going upward, which results in his torso moving up, and then he moves his body down to meet the bar at a lower point, hence the swaying. Is there a degree measurement of how much of this is acceptable?

-JDCav24 Also a Basketball workout would be amazing and a workout for shoulder definition would be great. And another thing ive been hoping to get was those rounded biceps when your not even flexing, like your just standing there and ur biceps are all round round round as if ur flexing but ur not. I really wanna wear sleeveless shirts and look nice in them so im hoping for shoulder definition workout, the bcep workout and basketball workout for my basketball training. Thanks i will keep support

-Reignunlimited Yes Reign. you're missing the major point. Sometimes people are limited by just ONE single part of an entire range of motion on an exercise. For the bent over row, often it's the start (having to overcome the inertia and get the bar moving. The bands assist you in JUST THIS PART of the motion since they become slack as you raise the bar higher. This allows you to keep the weight heavy at the top and not be limited by what you can use in your weak spot.

-Reignunlimited Reign. no need to start putting others down man. If you're knowledgeable that's cool. Share it with others instead of bashing them. As for your answer of course the initial part of the rep is important, but it depends on what you're targeting at that moment. I'm DEFINITELY still lifting in the beginning of the rep. but in this exercise it's just been made slightly easier so that I don't have to limit the weight I can use for the other 90% of the rep.

This seems a bit wrong to me. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the hardest part of the bend over row the top position? Getting it off the ground or off the rack you just do by deadlifting, and then you go down to a bend over row stance. You see in the video Jeff can't get the barbell up to his chest or his belly and he can't control the weight. Still really like this video series, it's all food for thought. Keep it up, Jeff!

-JDCav24 Make perect sense Jeff. Thanks for all the great information and videos! My wife and I just did the -Leg Circuit- that you have posted here. It was a great time. I modified it a bit for her since squatting on the BOSU was a little too advanced. That's what I really like is that you put us in the -ballpark- and we get to run the bases!

-Reignunlimited If you are really a professional, then that makes your comment even more unprofessional. having a masters, you should have learned how to communicate at a more -professional- level, you're education should have covered effective communicating. and this is not it. This was a very immature, un-educated comment. just saying.

-Schneebly06 The overhand grip, palms facing down would work more of the outer, upper part of the lats to create the width of the back, while the underhang grip, palms facing up would work more of the inner, middle to lower part to give the lats a thicker look and would also involve more biceps than the overhand version

-MrSkilzzy Hey Skilzzy. in my opinion yes. as long as you're choosing high quality brands without any of the filler ingredients. Pure whey protein and pure creatine monohydrate (used no more than 5 grams a day) are ok for 15 year olds and older. Stay away from prohormone and Nitrous oxide products however at your age.
