X One of the most common questions that guys ask when working out is how to do more pullups. The pull up is no doubt one of the more challenging bodyweight exercises. That said, it can be one of the most rewarding back exercises in regards to the amount of size and strength you can get from doing it. The problem with pullups however is that most often, we don't do nearly as many reps of this exercise as we can. There's a saying, you can't fire a cannon from a canoe. This refers to the fact that you lose strength along the kinetic chain if you have an energy leak. In the upper body, and particularly on the pullup exercise, your energy leak is going to come at the shoulder blade or scapula. The shoulder blade needs to provide a stable base if your lats are to work to their full strength potential. In this video, I show you two scapular stabilization exercises or drills that you can do to instantly increase the strength of your lats and start doing more reps of pull ups. By mobilizing your shoulder blades and then stabilizing them, you will quickly activate these often dormant muscles of the back so that you can increase those reps of pullups. Regardless of how many pullups you're doing now, institute the techniques shown in this back training video and you will be doing more by your very next set! For a complete training and workout program to start seeing faster results in every muscle of your body, then it's time to start training like an athlete! Jeff, I wouldn't call it instant, but I'm told most women can't do even 1 pull up. Well, that was me. Then I progressed to 4 n got stuck on 4 for a while. Almost 2mths ago I started your program n I'm getting stronger. I went up to 6 pull ups, but I've been stuck there for a while too. I've been under a lot of stress lately but a huge amt of it was lifted off my shoulders this morning. I've been walking on air since 11am today. I felt pumped when I got home n just for the heck of it I decided to record myself doing pull ups just to compare myself to what you're teaching in this video which I happened to watch a few wks ago. My goal was to do 10 by December. I guess I have to set a new goal bc I managed to do 10 TODAY.
I'm stronger. My body is transforming. My husband laughs, but everytime I do a workout, I call it Body by Jeff.
I'm 49 n just the other day a lady at the gym said she thought I was in my 30's. I've also berm asked if I'm a body builder. Say what?
Thanks for doing what you do.

I used to do 13 or 14 pull-ups at the END of a whole body workout. I could do this after every single session, and never any less than 13 too, and also never any more than 14. I had to stop gym for 3 years And now I-m back (since 3 months, I did 4 pull-ups on Thursday, after a leg (only) workout.
It-s amazing how you lose form and how difficult it is to get it back. Ok I-m 1 whole stone heavier now, maybe that-s part of the problem.

I can do 10 pretty comfortably but I thought I'd try the first tip and strangely it gave me cramp in my right hamstring! So I thought I'd give the second one a go and quickly found the door frame got in the way. good tips though. they make sense and I'm going to carry on giving the first one a go, maybe doing some leg stretches first.

I'm a lifelong athlete and was a gymnast in my youth but I could never do a pull up. I never realized it was related to my scapulas. I just started doing the exercises you show in this video, and I'll let you know when I get to my first pullup. Thanks!

I-m 6-3 205 pounds, gym 4-5 days a week pretty strong lean and fit. But I can barely do one pull up. My shoulders are injured AF and will eventually need surgery to fix. Do I have any hope of actually doing a few more pull-ups with f#cked up shoulders?

just exercise, the rest just complexes the mind, which bends the arm 90 degrees, looks back 25 degrees, blah blah blah, he just wants to attract attention with his videos, complexing people with the technique that according to him has the correct one.

Thanks for that. If you keep your arms bent as demonstrated, its not that hard. When you do your pullups, try dropping right down with straight arms. I guarantee you will not be able to do anywhere near as many - Try real pullups dude. :.

As a slightly over weight 50 year old, I thought I'll give it a go. Must admit the warm up killed me, couldn't manage a single pull up after it, so had a protein shake instead. As they say Rome wasn't built it a day.

so do you not -dead hang- at the bottom of each rep. it looks like you weren't at the end in your examples. I ask because my shoulder blade/rotator has been bothering me after pull ups the other day
