The REAL Reason You Work Out (OR DON-T) Weaver: I exercise (I would not say train yet) Because
no. 1 I wanna be Healthy, Be in a better mood, less stress etc etc, basically better health overall.
no. 2 It made me feel like I have accomplish something in my day/week/ and most importantly, in my life
no. 3 I want to be able to continue being able to do strength training well into my 60's and beyond if I live that long. How is my body be able to do that If I don't start now? I am 30 currently.
no. 4 Did I forget to mention it's an accomplishment? It makes me feel I have accomplished something in my life.
no. 5 To get a better looking body
Muscle gain, GAINS. growth etc etc is last in my list. so yeah. It makes working out a Hell a lot more fun instead on focusing on the trivial things like most people do. Eg. like how ur biceps looks. or mine is bigger than urs and shits. It does makes ur life a lottt easier when you don't think about how you look that much. We live in a beauty obsessed society, do what the 95% aren't doing (not being obsessed with outer looks/beauty, and you will be happier and successful: .
I see for most people their number 1 reason to workout is to ripped body etc etc. if you do, I'd say your first -why- is in the wrong direction already, this should not be your main reason period(Unless you are into bodybuilding competition or something like that, that is different, I am talking about everyday peoples. If it is, you have been brainwashed and put too much importance to outer looks. You are giving outer looks wayyyy more credit/attention than it really deserve (like most people these days do.
It's like the fight club quote -I pity guys who go to the gym to look like how Calvin Clien says they should look like-: .
This doesn't mean I endorse not working out, by all means work out, it's good (I am working out myself, but don't be beauty obsessed.

I train for health. I don't want to be the old feeble man in the grocery store with a cane, hunched over. Also to be a good healthy role model for my son. And of course to be able to at least hold my ground in a fight. I use to be the skinny kid as well and I was teased and picked on constantly in school too. Your videos have truly helped me ALOT. Taught me what to do and what not to do. Some exercises I can't really do because I have bad knees and asthma but I take the movements and apply them in ways I can. I'm also limited to home workouts and only a few dumbbells and a straight bar with a few plates. I was at a constant plateau for a long while until I found Athlean x. I was making gains but losing them constantly before I found you. I learned what to do and what not to do with nutrition and how to hit the muscle the best way, which has helped me make better gains and condition my body to where I don't lose as much when I burn too many calories and I'm unable to eat when I need to.

ummmmmm so why i train?
i look decent and i am good at studies and i also am good at talking with people, making friends but i am not that tall. its just a insecurity and its ok if i am not that tall but as i said i am good at things when some friends or anyone say me that i am Short then its feels like its my weakness or something. its like thats the only thing which is imperfect about me. i made a girlfriend who is 1 inch taller then me LOL(i do't know why i said LOL) and she was the only perfect girl that i wanted to be with from the start. i want to look nice and a little stronger.

why do I train?
I dunno, a buddy of mine needed a partner and the gym he goes to had an 4 month free, 16 months binding membership, so I decided it was a good opportunity to get in shape, get more comfortable with my body. It's the easiest area in life to improve at for someone like me - young, able bodied, male and with enough financial support to cook healthy meals for myself.
And I did. I feel better, it's fun and I can listen to podcasts alone or spend time with my friend working out if our schedules line up.
Now to figure out what else to do with my life.

I workout, because it makes me feel good, more energized, and because I dont want to look skinny. Also, exercise improves brain health and I want to get good grades, and it really improves my productivity throughout the day. I'm not gonna lie, I also exercise to look a certain way, but I also genuinely want to be stronger so that difficult tasks aren't as difficult anymore (gardening, moving houses, lifting, etc. I feel happier when I workout, and I chase the feeling of improvement in all areas of life - anyway, that's my long-winded explanation for working out!

I work out because I'm tired of being an unrealized potential.
I have a pretty face yet I'm not comfortable in my body knowing it could look better. I have quite a high IQ yet I've been struggling my way through university. I have a family that supports me yet I've been insecure to start a career. I have realized that even though I may have setbacks and reasons not to reach my potential, I've been slowly losing all of my self respect. The only way to gain it back is to action, regardless of how scared I am from failing or embarrassing myself.

I want to change my life style to prove how strong I am. I want to be a person that I can be proud of. A person who expects that I should be respected by a partner, because I deserve to be treated with kindness and love. I want get married to a person who treats me right and start a family. One day, I want to set a good example for my children so they can have the best start in life. I want to do everything in my power to be healthy and happy.

I started training, for emotional reasons. Am I didn't love myself at that time. Reason being is that, I took on a lot of negative talks and actions of course. I was over 250 pounds and felt like if I change my appearance, I would get accepted by others, which didn't workout though. But my life has changed due to a lot of experiences and I love working out. That's how I get my peace and joy. I show myself how much I love myself.

Here's my reason. I'm an active paramedic working in a really busy city. One of the worst things I come across is people in their 60s and 70s wearing diapers. I wanna be able to walk without ambulatory aid. Working in the health field really opens your eyes to your own mortality. We get older every day, and the only thing we have control over is our health. The only excuse is laziness.

This is good, but while watching I was thinking of Nietzsche and the 'will to life'. I actually think this is a valid, and deep, reason (as well as the more usual self-confidence stuff. the awareness that our life is limited, and there is a drive inside us to be the best we can be. To reach our potential. Because we only get the chance to do that once! Then it's just cold inifnity.
