s important to discuss when you are deciding to first make this your goal to be lean and ripped. If you are doing this for the first time in your life in your late thirties or even older, it is going to be much more difficult to achieve ultra lean levels of body fat than had you started training and watching your nutrition in your teens or twenties. This is mostly due to the habits that are required to maintain the discipline to get this ripped as well as the fact that hormonally you are providing an opportunity to improve an already impressive body comp the more lean and muscled you are as opposed to someone who has much higher levels of body fat and lower levels of lean mass. That said, there is no reason to be discouraged about starting at any age. You can look absolutely amazing no matter where you start from and it takes a dedication to the following main areas when you do decide to start. We first start with nutrition. As a matter of fact, your diet or how you eat is going to be the absolute most important part of how lean you look. There is nothing that can overcome a bad diet when it comes to getting ripped (even cardio as we-ll talk about in a second. When it comes to nutrition many will opt to be exclusionary to either fat or carbohydrates in their pursuit of leanness. I think that this is a long term mistake. It is never a good idea to adopt an eating style that requires you to eliminate or drastically cut down one of the three main macronutrients from your diet. Instead, it is much healthier and successful long term to consume all three but to make wiser food choices from within the categories. I share in the video some of the repercussions I faced early on from being exclusionary when it came to dietary fats in my eating plan. When it comes to training, there is no truth to the myth that you should train with light weights and high reps to get ripped. As a matter of fact, you can actually build muscle using light weights if you do it properly and it-s something that you want to make sure that you do along with lifting heavy weights and training to eccentric failure. It-s not a choice of one over the others. Your job, when you are trying to get ripped and lean, is to train with all of the options in your arsenal to build as much lean body mass as possible knowing that it is going to help you long term to maintain very low levels of body fat. Other things I do are I take my supplementation seriously and aim to provide my muscles with the highest quality ingredients at the times that are most likely to satisfy their needs. The ATHLEAN-Rx supplements are heavily relied on here as well as some one off vitamins like green tea extract or raw foods like ginger and cinnamon. Sacrifices, as mentioned earlier, are going to have to be made however if you want to achieve this level of leanness and maintain it all year. I for instance, do not partake in drinking alcohol or eating sweets (but for one or two times a year. Is this a requirement for you to look lean and muscular? Not at all, however to maintain very low levels of body fat you will likely have to forego some of your current habits and that may not be something you want to do. Ultimately, the choice is yours. I just wanted to be able to share with you the process I go through and that helps me to maintain my leanness well into my forties and beyond. If you are looking for a step by step meal plan and workout plan that will help you to follow the same thing I do to get this lean and stay this lean year round, you can find all of our plans at athleanx. com via the link below. Start training and eating like an athlete and you-ll be amazed at how quickly you can change the entire look of your body

I hv a question about BMI. I'm 5 ft 8 inches and my BMI is 120-160 lbs but I find it very difficult to get and stay under 160 lbs. I could lose more body fat because I'm pretty sure I'm not under 10% but I hv this idea that I'm not going to get and maintain between 120-160 lbs as long as I keep lifting weights and building muscle. Are bodybuilders within their BMI or are they all over their BMI limit, even with lean body fat. because of the amount of extra muscle on their body? What is realistic? I'm only trying to make BMI because my doctor says I need to make my weight within the range of her BMI chart. I can't see Arnold or Lou ever having been within their BMI limit, even with low body fat. because those guys looked huge on stage. Lean. but physically obese maybe according to the doctor's BMI charts?

Coach Jeff can grill me if he chooses too. Better to be chewed by one who is the real deal than one who isn't.
My break even point - reduce red meat consumption, sugar consumption, reduce carb intake, increase Protein (White Meat) Intake alongside with Vitamin and Fiber. When at the gym burn more calories than calories consumed. For me, I advocate the 3 mile on the treadmill then hit the muscle toning. Supplementation consumption congruent with personal goals. The other hidden demon not mentioned is the associated people and their habits they do. A 'non lean' person or any emotional eater will always drag the motivator trying to live lean down. thank you. Still Jeff is more credible than this post, humbly put.

Well Jeff let me tell you, I am 58 y/o now, and I used to do basically iron gym: one hour running, two hours weights snd one hour either spinning or swimming, but now I can not run, I had knee and lower spine procedures done, though successful, the high impact stress on running is just too much for me now, and after more than five years of sedentary life, I had to restart my exercise routine with the most basic of human activities: walking, 40 minutes of walking and even though is not that glamorous and challenging it really helps you burn fat if you do it right. then I do weights for about an hour. I can say without a doubt that running combined with weights really gets you lean, but it is for younger folk

I find it so funny when people talking about -missing out on sweets-. As type 1 diabetic I don't eat any sweets since they mess up my bloog sugar too much, also I don't even want to eat sweets anymore. Maybe I wanted something sweet first weeks but now after 3 years of no sugary sweets I don't even miss it. When I'm hungry I eat food, not sweets. I eat very clean aswell with mostly whole foods. My biggest problem is just getting big(working on it) and then eating the correct amount of calories(i usually eat too little.

I-ve been training for some decades now, and I can say that the percentage of fat as a condition of -lean looking- is very much dependent on genetics. When somebody retains too much liquid as a result of his normal metabolic characteritics, it-s always hard to look lean. One should always try to grasp the idea of being healthy before and foremost, for being -lean- - sure it-s very subjective - maybe isn-t even a possibility considering the genetic background.

Incredible physique! I have been working out my whole life ('cause i wanted to be like Arnold) when i was 19, but I am 56 now and I guess I figured that I washed up. But wow, look at the -cutness- and refinement, unbelievable. I don't think I could be 5. 3% but I would definitely want to be leaner. Also, realized - from the keto diet that I was doing the last 2 months - that I have been, unfortunately, insulin resistant for. I estimate 10 years

I'm at 6% bodyfat without doing a diet right now. I've followed a meal plan only once in my lifetime and that was half a year ago. I've always been this way. And I have an okay muscle mass of 47% keeping in fact that I havent been to gym for half a year. So I guess there are some people that just are this way. Only supplement I've taken is decathlon protein powder lol.

In my late 30's, I like the videos that talk about health and longevity. My desire to lift big and be a -BRO- are over. I want to find a way to maintain health and mobility for the long term. I have a bad back, bad knees, bad shoulders, and at this point. I wish I never would have played sports or tried to increase my PR.
