Hey david big fan here I had a question about deloading. So I'm a natural lifter and I turn 18 this september, I've been training for about 2 and a half years and for the first 6-8 months of my training was simply cutting bodyfat. I was originally 220 5 10 and very weak and fat, now I am about 162 6 foot. My best lift is bench where I am benching around 245-255 but it's not my heavy lifts that feel heavy but my higher rep lifts. Like I was training chest 2 days ago and I did dumbbell press followed by incline bench, where I could only hit 185 for 4 which is pretty weak compared to what I should and have been able to do. The same is with squat, I squat 395 but when I get 315 on I have recently been struggling to get 6-8.

Volume is life, volume is love. Full body is shit, 2 times a week, 1 high rep, 1 low rep, or just weekly ondulating periodization. if you really only care about strength, Bulgarian light ftw. I benched daily for 1 month, progress wasn't linear, but after a week's break, went for 1 rep max, added 30 pounds, considering I was stuck at 315 for 3 months only adding 1 rep every month, for me, this was magic, I was in disbelief, I couldn't compute benching 345. but it worked, and I started laughing hysterically at the gym.

I understand this fully. I don't lift, but I'm a competitive Irish Stepdancer. Right now, I'm preparing for Nationals and I do 10. 5-15. 25 hours of dance (which is very intense) a week. the only day I get off is Friday. By Wednesday and Thursday (3. 5-8. 25 hours of dance in the week so far, my dancing starts to decline as my CNS starts to shut down. Thank you for putting this video out man. I can finally explain why my body starts to slow down.

David if I have been running a program for 8 weeks and now my lifts have stopped increasing as per normal and I'm overall weaker and it's time for a deload do I continue the program for the deload but just for one week decrease the weight I'm doing or decrease the volume. Or instead for the deload do I do a completely different workout routine that has decreased weight or volume? Please reply ASAP

Thanks for this, very informative. I've been cutting for awhile while using progressive overload (not a good idea, I know) and it's to the point where I think my CNS is extremely overworked. I've kind of intuitively been doing this (deloading) for the past few weeks so it's nice to know it's actually a thing that I can properly research and implement.

I really wonna believe that Dave is natural but it's so hard to believe when only a month ago he was benching 315 for 1RM and he had been stuck on that for the past year or 2 and now he able to just add an extra 45 pounds out of his pocket like it was nothing, won't be surprised if he recently started a cycle. Not hating just saying what I think

Hi David, How do you tell difference between being fatigued or just depleted of glycogen? It seems like there isn't much evidence out there pointing out that its actually the central nervous system causing a person to feel weak. Could it not be that a person is depleted of there energy supply which is causing them to feel weak?

I know this video is 7 months old but I've been watching all of your old videos while sick and after seeing this one it sort of challenged my perspective on lifting. Do you train while sick? If so do you treat it as a time to deload since you're naturally not as strong due to your entire body trying to recover from a sickness?
