These protein balls are the only healthy snack that you'll need in your life we promise! Packed with energy, these peanut butter and oat power balls are made with chocolate protein powder, honey, cinnamon and a finely chopped sea salt chocolate bar (yes, you read that right) and they will power you through your workout or fill that early, mid or late day craving.
BLOG POST HERE:
The protein balls recipe is simple:
2 Cups Gluten Free Oats
1 Cup Adams Chunky Peanut Butter (Use smooth if you would like, but be sure to use a NATURAL peanut butter for the best mixing consistency)
2/3 Cup Honey (We buy our honey at Costco to save $$$)
1 Scoop ON Performance Whey Isolate Protein Powder (We love chocolate and also get ours at Costco)
1 Scoop Bionic Nutrition Gleam Collagen Powder (THE BEST! You can also mix this in your shakes, coffee, etc. and it NEVER clumps up)
1tsp Cinnamon
1 Endangered Species Dark Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt and Almonds (This is our personal favorite, but we've also used other premium chocolate bars with sea salt. Don't skimp on this ingredient. it makes ALL the difference)
How to make protein balls:
Combine the oats, peanut butter, honey, protein powder, collagen and cinnamon in a large bowl and combine with a hand mixer or a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer until all ingredients are mixed together.
The protein bites should not feel dry or sticky. If they feel dry, add 1 Tbsp at a time and mix until they are easy to manage.
If the energy bites feel too sticky then you'll need to add more protein powder, collagen or oats until they are the right consistency. Remember to add a little at a time.
Once the protein power balls are the perfect consistency then you can use a spoon and your hands to create 2 balls, placing them in a container.
We prefer to use a 2 cookie scoop or ice cream scoop to evenly create our protein balls. Plus, they look a whole lot better too as they have tons of visual texture and let's face it. when food looks better, it tastes better!
We highly recommend placing the peanut butter energy bites in the refrigerator for two hours before eating and be sure to store them in the refrigerator when you're not eating them.
Use high quality ingredients and we promise that these will be the BEST protein balls you have ever tried!
Enjoy these energy bites as a pre workout snack, post workout snack or whenever you need a quick and healthy snack.
