How to Hike the Laugavegur Trail in Iceland - A Hiking Guide John: Absolutely the most informative video on the hike I've seen. To the point with no extra crap. loved it!
So it took you 2 nights and 3 days. I plan to continue on with the next section for some extra distance. Heck, I might as well since I'm flying all the way there.
What time of the year were you there? I didn't look like you needed Microspikes or similar?
I'm glad to see there's some food along the way.
Thanks again.

Great info here but an update: Reykjavik Excursions no longer offers a Hiking Pass. It continues to offer daily bus transportation to and from Landmannalagur, Thorsmork and Skogar, but you must purchase separate tickets for each leg of the journey. TREX continues to offer a Hiking Pass option. Each carrier has significantly increased its pricing over the 2020 figures quoted in the video.

Came across your Japan videos while I was planning a Japan trip over the pandemic and love how relaxing, beautiful, and informative they are. I just got back from walking the nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo solo and this one is looking amazing for the next trek abroad. Keep up the great work: )

Great work Allan, outstanding video! Very informative from beginning to end which is just what I needed as I'm preparing myself for this hike. This also will be my first multi-day solo hike but I will be doing the trail in September. Also, cinematography was superior!

Hey man, I see you hiked all the way to the lake when you got off the bus? Did you have a enough time to do this?
Im going next week and wondering if I should try to make it to the lake straight off the bus. 24km walk starting at about 12 noon when the bus arrives

Sick video! I can hardly wait for the highlands to open up again next year. Your musical timing with your edits is great by the way, makes me a bit emotional while I watch some of your Iceland videos. Anyway, I look forward to learning about your next adventure!

Hi! Thanks for that video! I'm thinking about going and this helps a lot. I have one question though. Were did you get the gas canister? Is it possible to get it at the start of the hike or should I look for it still in Reykjavik?

Great thorough report of the trip, thanks! Big inspiration, I'm planning to go in the summer of '23! How did you manage you power-supply with your camera and drone? I have many many more questions for you, but this is #1. Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting. I'm booked to do this later in the year and it will also be my first proper solo multiday hike so being able to see the terrain and how easy it is to navigate has really helped soothe my nerves.

A really great film - thanks for sharing. What time of year did you go? I am thinking of doing this trail and would like to avoid the bugs and in your video it didn't look like you suffered with insects very much.

I have an experienced backpack group of 10 guys, we want to go to iceland, but we would like something a bit longer, more challenging and perhaps more remote. Any other suggestions for Iceland?
reply

This video is extremely helpful. I just booked my trip to Iceland to hike this trail and found all the info on setting up my trip with the websites added in this video. Thanks!

Hi, did you store any airport luggage anywhere? I am planning on backpacking your exact trail and i dont know where I can store my luggage without a hotel or car rental: (

Can I ask what you had to go through for permission to fly the drone. I am going in July to do this trail and other things but finding the drone regs a bit confusing

What a great video Allan its given me a great insight to the trail which I will be doing in August so thank you.
What month did you take on the trail?

reply

very well done video. Thank you. I am strongly thinking about this hike end of this summer. This made it seem like far less planning than I thought. Thanks!

Thanks! I am staying at Langidalur on the last day which doesn't have a restaurant. Any idea how far a walk it is to the hut you staying in to get a meal?

Amazing video and cinematography. You captured the beauty and dramatic landscapes of the Laugavegur hike. Watching your video brought back good memories.

Great video. Have to admit really liked it without the commentary! The trail is on our list. We drove right round Iceland via Route One. in winter.

fantastic and thanks for info. I plan to do this next year around end of the season hopefully I don't encounter too many human along the way, lol.
reply

I guess it is not recommended to drive to the trailhead by yourself since the trail is not a loop. Unless take another 4 days to hike back.
