The thing is that its such a big country and people are really different from place to place. The things to see and views are also very different. I understand people all go to Beijing or xian and big cities when first travel in China. but not suggested. The people you see in Beijing are mainly from else where and they temporarily live there for better opportunities and money. What I mean is you cant feel easy and relaxedits crowded and overwhelming. For example, you can choose to go to Huang Shan(yellow mountain. You can spend one week on it if you wanna totally enjoy it. Its shocking beautiful and natural and historical(you can see the poetry everywhere in the rocks and there were from ancient poets. Go to Suzhou and check out the Suzhou gardens, they are masterpieces. Go to Yunnan and check out the lochs and snow mountains. Go to Hainan province and rent a villa (modern decorated with garden, pool and I bet good price) with your own beach and drink huge fresh coconuts like water everyday. I cant describe more places that are amazing but tourists dont know. I know Beijing is famous for the Great Wall and forbidden city, but its a chaotic place that the local Beijing people never travel to Tian am men or any of the famous places.

About the rude and disgusting behaviour. yeah they are truly there and can make you shocked. But the reason is complicated, don judge it like the whole place sucks. The education levels of people are too different that you cannot understand. Nearly half of the area of china is covered by Inner Mongolia, xinjiang and Tibet but they dont have much population. So imagine this, around 1. 4 billion people living in half area of china(middle, south, east, you cannot imagine how to regulate and educate soo many people to the same level in a short time. how difficult to get enough public infrastructure for so many people. The advice is. if you plan to travel in China, dont judge it in your own rules. Just enjoy the things you like and ignore the things you are not comfortable with. Its changing dramatically and it wont be like this all the time. About the dog meat thing. it is not some daily food, Im pretty sure most of Chinese never try them.

I've never been to China, but I can confirm the Chinese people love Western kids. When my daughter was a baby and we'd visit our favorite Chinese restaurant, all the female servers would stop working and take my baby from me. They'd all take turns holding and snuggling her and speaking Chinese to her. They were always very polite and friendly, and the restaurant was small, so I wasn't worried. They always sat at a nearby table near me. The female owner told me that none of the women had daughters because they had all been affected by the former one-child rule in China.

Thanks to the ccp, most of the 'problems' here are solved, spitting is strictly banned, the smog is much less severe due to better investment in infrastructure, 'exotic foods' are banned, foreign exposure is much more common so they are much more used to you, public shitting is banned, its really strictly enforced in cities but you'll probably be able to see turds in some countryside bushes

All correct and agree with his points. But people are friendly only to westerner's, like he said, his kids were mobbed wanting to take pictures. Another thing he didn't mention is children being snatching. Don't believe me? Look it up. Been to China billions of times and it's a shite hole. Don't say I haven't warned you.

I'm a little late to the thread, but am confused. I thought it was in Korea that dog was eaten and in China that cat was on the menu. Now last year in 2020, I come to learn that live bats are also consumed farm to table in China. Or maybe that was just a cover for the government of the People's Republic. WHO knows?

All these things are true except I found Chinese people to be very rude. It made me really miss Korea when people at least had some manners. But nonetheless China is beautiful, the food is incredible and its worth putting up with the bad to experience the good.

Download a VPN on your Android before you come to China. So you can open Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and all Google sites. Download Wifi Master Key to connect free, to many Wifi connections in China. Be ready for over-crowded and noisy
places.
