Rose Eddie. Traditional and Simplified Chinese only differ in writing. About 40 years ago, the Chinese government decided to simply the Chinese writing system to make sure that ordinary people can get easier educated. That's why simplified Chinese is mostly used in Mainland China, and later Malaysian Chinese and Singaporeans decided to use simplified writing, too. United Nation also use simplified Chinese. HongKong, Macau, Taiwan and American Chinese still keep using traditional writing. If you wanna learn Chinese, it all depends on you for which writing system. If you are not a Japanese or a Korean, I recommend simplified Chinese for your convenience. If you learned simplified writing, you can also read traditional writing, just don't know how to write that.

I'm curious. What has you being able to travel all around the world like this? I've been all throughout the U. S. (mainly just based on luck, and a trip to Canada/Mexico. But did you go into a specific job course? I've always wanted to explore and visit/live in other countries, to know the culture, etc.

Bye bye is not universal Mandarin. In fact, it is simply borrowed English. Most people over 50 will not understand. The younger Chinese typically pronounce it like Chinese characters, Bah bah.

You will NEVER say Ni hao ma, because it is very personal, like asking someone How in the world have you been lately? Obviously, you cannot ask a total stranger How have you been lately?
