Heading out on our first flight abroad and not sure what happens when you get off the plane? This video talks about what documentation you may need when you go through customs and border control in some countries. Whether it is just a passport or a visa or proof of accomodation there are a fewt hings that you might want to know before you head to the airport. From when you pick up your luggage on an international flight to when do they check my passport

This is very good advice. main points I got out of this is renew your passport if your travel dates are within 6 months of your passport expiring. Also keep a copy of your itinerary with you just in case they ask where you are going.
Edit: Something I would like to add is keep a pen with you (especially when returning to the United States) as you will be given a form by the Flight Attendants that you will have to fill out. In general the information you will have to put in this form is your passport number, flight number, address of where you will be staying if you are visiting the U. S. (like hotel info) or your home address if you are retuning to the U. S.

I fly abroad so infrequently now that it seems like the first time every flight. It's as though my brain works overtime to anticipate the next step to get through the boarding process. I feel more relaxed traveling with another person who can also be alert to changes, etc. When flying solo, I'm on my own to catch the plane and any connecting flights. Once onboard in my seat, I can chill for awhile! Traveling can be mentally and physically exhausting sometimes if I'm traveling to a new location. I'm excited and anxious not knowing what to expect. Whew!

Hi, I have a question. I have a connecting flight in the United States. my stopover is in Miami. I have noticed that a few steps before arriving at immigration there are some kiosks. I think they call it Automatic Passport Control. If, as an international traveler, I have to do my passport control there and then stand in line for the small interview with the agent, or I went from just one to the interview with the agent and I don't do that at the kiosk. My final destination is Houston.

Its a little different if youre coming into the United states from an airport where there is us customs preclearance, like dublin as pictured. In those cases you clear customs BEFORE flying and youll check your bags after youve cleared. On arrival youll arrive as a domestic flight and can head straight for baggage claim and such. The downside is youll need to allow extra time when departing but on the flip side youll know youre free to leave on arrival!

Need help to understand, never travelled before:
Say I go to Asia, Thailand and want to go to Vietnam for 30 day each. Can I get a separate visa for entering each country? Or does my visa only allow up to 30 days for Asia entirely?
What I'm asking is, can I keep country hopping from one Asian country to another or does my visa only limit me 30 days entirely for Asia?

Appreciate the info. I'm going to Europe in May, for the first time since 1970. Going on Scandinavian cruise, DFW thru Frankfurt, to Copenhagen, COVID willing. On the way back, to DFW thru Istanbul--that should be a little weird. My one memory of Customs was mid afternoon at O'Hare--absolute bedlam. Hope its a little less crazy now.

Hi Walters.
I'm be flying from Australia to san Francisco terminal 1. We then have to go to terminal 3 to catch our flight to vegas. We only have 2 hrs to catch our vegas flight. Is this enough time considering we have to go through customs, collect bags then recheck them in and walk to terminal 3.

When I travel in another country I always look around to make sure that you aren't filming a video near me. I'm scared of vaporizing into thin air like some of the tourist behind you. As always another helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to help all of us out.
