Cloudcroft, New Mexico. If you're looking for a weekend type getaway it is one of those completely unexpected places with a lot of natural beauty. It is about 100 miles north of El Paso, which sounds like a long distance but the speed limit is 70 and there is no traffic. 1 of those miles is vertical as Cloudcroft sits at just under 9000 feet elevation and the road to get there (US 82) is a very cool mountain road. In about 20 minutes you go from the high desert floor of the Tularosa Basin to Alpine forest. Once in Cloudcroft you can hit the Trestle Trail (an old railroad trestle from the days when trains went up and down the mountain) with an overlook that gives you - on a clear day - a view of White Sands, the Valley of Fire lava flow, and all the way across the 80 mile wide Basin to (and sometimes through) the San Andreas mountains on the other side. There is a beautiful drive through the Mescalaro Apache reservation over to the ski resort town of Ruidoso with Lincoln (where Billy the Kid escaped from jail, killing 2 deputies in the process) about an hour's drive beyond that. White Sands National Monument is about 40 minutes from Cloudcroft and usually about 20 degrees warmer. About 40 minutes beyond that is Las Cruces, which includes Old Mesilla--the territorial capitol of what is now NM and AZ. If you come the first weekend of April or October you can also visit Trinity Site and stand on the location of the first detonation of an atomic bomb. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, consider southern New Mexico.

Key West, Florida. I went there last month and it's great. There is so much history there and there are sites to see such as The Little White house where Harry Truman and other Presidents stayed. Also there is Ernest Hemmingway's home with the six toed cats which is really neat. There are some neat bars there and everyone there is super friendly. They have great weather there year around and even in the summer the weather is good because of the breeze. The town has a relaxed vibe and it's a great place to go for a weekend. It's small enough to feel like a nice quaint town but it's big enough where there is still plenty going on and so much to do. There is also a really neat butterfly museum there. Also there is the southernmost house which has some cool events and there are also plenty of great restaurants. Key West is a must visit for sure.

Winston-Salem, NC. Honestly just worth the trip to eat Moravian sugar cake, and to see Old Salem. Close by you also have Greensboro, NC that has some great historical sights and museums (international civil rights museum. If you come during holiday season another place close by is the Tangle-wood Park, they have a light festival that is beautiful and very popular.

New braunsfels in Texas during early Spring or late Fall. Close to Austin and San Antonio for touristy side trips. Manageable to Kerrville for folk arts along some very pretty roads. Great small towns and friendly folks all over central Texas. Lots of breweries and vineyards. Caveat. Texans consider any side trip under 50 miles as no big deal.

You need to come to St. Petersburg Florida, particularly downtown.
I know you have been to a bunch of other places near St. Petersburg, but in the last couple of years there has been a revitalization of the area. Very walkable, artsy, eclectic. Its amazing, and great food sceneWould love to show you around.

Cloudland Canyon/Tallulah Gorge in Georgia! Great place to see the fall foliage and enjoy the quaint and quiet feel and look of the Appalachian mountains. Go out into the country and enjoy all the beauty nature has to offer. Great temperatures and sights, just perfect this time of year!

Bishop Hill, Illinois! Wonderful small Swedish settlers town. Small boutiques and wonderful food. Best time to visit is during the fall harvest. Google the small village and youll definitely be interested! I live about 5 miles from it and we often go there for the homemade goods!

Adults all-inclusive Cabos would be me first option, but Vegas is a must for adults. Luxury dining, shopping, shows, topless pools and the best nightclubs are some of the options in Vegas. Vegas is not conceive to be a family destination.

Mark. Have you guys ever been to Oaxaca Mexico. It looks like a great place to visit. It almost reminds me of European cities with lots of beautiful architecture. I've never been there, but it looks great.

Hey Mark! My advise for a couple getaway I will pick the Florida Keys or Miami. I will have beach, nightlife, shopping and rich latin culture altogether. Hope it makes to short list.
