2 yrs later, Guatemala City has El cerrito del Carmen 1600, between Cementary of Zone 5 and hills of Zone 6 lays a small plain land where cows were introduce to Centro America in 1548, thus train cows Bridge, plus Kaminal Juyuy a former Mayan city in the heart of the Capital, Guatemala City in two hrs drive through zone 6 can take you to Baja Verapaz, Alta Verapaz to Peten, first settlement was back in 1522, it was mention 2 times before it was finally agree to is present day, Guatemala City like any other can be travel with caution, dont rush to Antigua, Antigua is the last place you visit before leaving Guatemala, and don't show dollars, thieves will stalk and steal everything you have, always be careful when showing money, and have fun

I have fond memories of Guatemala! However, do not ride chicken buses alone if you are White or non-Latino. We were robbed: camera, passport, wallet, etc. GONE in the blink of a tortilla. Also, don't venture out after sundown unless you're ready to be robbed. Only go out in the day, and travel with others. Keep high awareness of where your personal items are at all times. Women should cover their shoulders to respect local customs (no tank tops or short shorts/short skirts. Not a safe country for solo women travelers.

Dang that place looks cool! I just posted some vids of my time in Guatemala + Honduras. I didnt get to see the ruins in Guate, but I did go to the ruins in Copan, Honduras. It was mind blowing to explore a vast city of pyramids deep in the Honduras jungle.
I took one of those chicken buses all the way across the Guatemala/Honduras border. some of the drivers swing around the cliffs so fast! I thought I was going to die

Thanks for visiting! I agree with your recommendations but there are interesting things in the city as well. There is a lot of local history around it and barely anyone really knows about it, which only worsens when tourism agencies and the tourism department only focus on Antigua and Tikal. History in Guatemala did not start and end with the Mayans and the Spanish conquest.

If its so great why is the country empty? Why did all the population leave & come to the US? Oh that's right, those lake are filthy, sewer system sucks, can't drink or bathe in that water! Why don't the government fix these things & keep THEIR people there & happy? We have no dreams here, Biden is president! Get real!

I really love this video. I still laugh the way this nice gentleman explain why people call chicken buss. You right, the reason the tourists named chicken buss; is because they transport everything they want, especial chickens.
Mr. Thanks to share this beautiful country, nice video and amazing and unique culture.

DONT GO ON THE CHIKEN BUSES! im from Guatemala and the chicken buses (as you call them, we call them camionetas) can be very dangerous, the drivers are bad and you can get mugged. it is much better to go in a rental car or in Litegua which is a private bus company that drives anywhere in the country.

Thanks for tips. in reference about getting stomach sick because you eat some fruits, I would recommend that if you're going to be traveling try to eat some yogurt before. it can help regulate your digestive system. It has helped me a lot

Antigua is amazing! You are within very close viewing range of 3 volcanoes. 2 of which I believe? are slightly active. Also, get up early and watch the sunrise. Be awake from like 5-6 AM to see it. Incredible
