I am not Dutch but I am European and sorry, but the whole point is to (fully experience) the culture of the country that you are visiting. It is not about weather the native food is well renound or not. If that is the way you think then you are completely missing the whole point of visiting a country in the first place. If you want to try well renound food then good to Japan or Italy. You also have to remember that there is a reason that the niative food will be popular with the locals and so if you want to really experience that country the food is still always going to be a big part of that as food is a big part of culture in genral. At the very least it wouldn't make you look very good or open minded and you would likely have triggered a number of dutch viewers as a result.

The worse thing about Amsterdam is the tourists. Amsterdam is ruined by it. There are way to many, its one step away from becoming a Venice, which has stopped being a functioning city and is now just a tourist playground, a theme park, not even an open air museum, but Worse.
Amsterdam made the mistake to cater for wholesale tourism, get drunk, get laid, get stoned tourism that basically makes the inner city unlivable. It should quadruple its prices, aim for far, far, far less tourists at a much higher market segment. Not that those are such great guests to have, but its less.
It has come to a point that staff in bars and restaurants don't even speak Dutch anymore.
So, do everybody a favor, don't visit.

Basicly like a vending machine well looks like a vending machine to me. so nothing basicly about it. And Amsterdam is not The Netherlands nor it is Holland. It's a damn city wich you should avoid if you can. (i'm Dutch) Once i was there and those idiots could not even speak Dutch to me in a (cup of) cofee shop, all i wanted was a cup of coffee.

The art of being a good tourist is to let go of your collective native country's mindset and accpet hings as they are in the country you are visting. Which I have to say is the hardest for Americans. Besides that, it's much more fun to find out 'foreign' things yourself than others before you having it spelled out for you.

I am Amsterdammer, living in de Pijp, if you want a guided tour by a tgirl that worked in the Red Light, I can take you to all the best restaurants, fix you up with good candy, get you dancing in the nicest clubs, PM me. All for a modest reimbursement, of course.

So weird that you never have disclaimers about alcohol even though it's a billion times more dangerous than cannabis. It's so perverted the status of alcohol which is after tobacco the deadliest drug.

The very first mistake they make is to go to Amsterdam at all. It's an overcrowded, overpriced, overrated city, while there are tens of far more interesting places in the Netherlands.
