Just do as most germans do: stay away from the huge christmas markets and the markes in the center of larger towns (and also markets that are known for being 'the largest' or 'the most beautiful') because they will be really packed, there's usually one really tall guy standing with his back pressed to your nose while someone behind you is pushing you and you will have to wait very long to get something to eat or to drink. Go to smaller towns or smaller markets in less crowded parts of larger towns. It will be cheaper, they sell less crap there, you can move ) and you aren't stuck between tourists but actually do meet a lot of locals.

Hi Mark,
I'm actually heading to Cologne to see the Christmas markets this year (2014, this coming December. I originally wanted to head to Nuremberg as I heard this one, was the king of all the markets, but after I got an incredibly cheap flight deal to Cologne, I figured why not!
This will be my first time visiting the Christmas markets, as with visiting Cologne itself. I wondered, have you visited the Cologne Xmas market before, and if so, is it worth the visit?

Love all your videos. Very informative for party of one or a family. We plan on doing the Christmas Market once this pandemic ends. Have you and the Mrs. thought of leaving the kids with the grandparents and doing an Antarctic expedition cruise? If you do not want to leave the kids behind you could always do it on an ocean liner, just without the landings. Keep up the great work.

Hey Mark, thanks for keeping it real with your videos. Still thinking about whether or not I should visit Germany this December-January cause my mom prefers that I go there around May. After watching a couple of your videos, I'm leaning towards going anyway.

Just had our first snowfall here in Michigan. Merry Christmas to you Mark and your family. Keep making the videos. I think you should make a shopping video at one of the smaller villages. You show people around.
