Have you ever wondered why the Travel Channel doesn't show travel shows anymore, but shows lots of ghost hunting shows? Or perhaps you were wondering why The History Channel only shows Ancient Aliens? Well this video covers a few of the reasons why you won't be seeing a lot of new travel shows popping up on The TRVL channel any time soon

I knew it had to be about the ratings. I just knew it. It totally sucks that the majority of people have a shitty attention span. I remember back when Travel was all about Top 10 beaches, or top 10 Rollercoasters/theme parks/water parks, or top party destinations around the world. Even Andrew Zimmern's delicious Destinations or Food Paradise is what I loved. How I enjoyed my Saturdays. I at least catch those 2 shows on Food Network. But I'd much rather watch travel shows on T. V than searching for them on YouTube. Different kinda vibe ya know? Searching for Italy with Stanley Tucci is my new show now. It's great, but that shouldn't be on CNN.

1 reason?
Cable Tv, as we know it, is dying.
30 years ago, Cable Tv was a hot commodity.
Broadcast Networks owned the monopoly on quality programming ( remember the Tv Movie Of The Week)
Then, Cable Tv became the place where all the good Tv and Movies went. HBO, Showtime.
Then, Streaming Networks like Netflix, Hulu.
Now, It's Digital Tv.
UHD, 4K
1 day traditional Television may no longer exist, as we may get all of our programming from digital technology!

The fact that more people watch ancient alien and ghost and monster crap shows the general mentality of the average TV viewers. Obviously, they would rather watch mind-out-to-lunch, lurid, sensational, foolish stuff like aliens and monsters than intelligent, informative programming. Says a lot about the intelligence and attention span of many TV viewers, unfortunately.

All of their old shows are on their website to pretty much watch in full so I just do that. YouTube is great for travel but sometimes I want something with a bit more production and planning involved.

people can also watch that paranormal crap online as well. The US is just a bunch of cell phone addicted idiots with the attention span of a mosquito. mostly the young, though.

Why dont they make a secondary network for it? Like Nickelodeon makes spinoff networks like NickToons, or MTV with MTV 2 and MTVU.
