Me and my boyfriend spent 2 weeks on the Island, so we had the chance to visit many places. I have to admit that Crete is an island full of natural wonders, however, we felt like local people were seeing us just like a walking wallet.
Cretan people are nice just in the places where they're forced to be nice, like restaurants or travel agencies, however when you interact with them in less touristy places, they are very rude and obnoxious.
Almost nobody on this island respects the driving rules, they don't give you the permission to cross the street even if you are on the pedestrian crossing. Google maps doesn't give you the proper directions most of the time, and the public transportation is almost non existent. Their bus site doesn't work and you cannot find any schedule.
Fun fact
I was in a clothing shop asking the sales lady if she has the S size for a t-shirt, she didn't have it, instead she tried to convince me that the t-shirt sizes starts from M: . I found this situation sad and funny at the same time. They literally tell you lies just to convince you to buy. It was a Jack&Jones store in Chania.

hi you missed the most beautiful place on the island of crete paleohora, its south west part of the island right on the Libyan sea, its a stunning village which has a twoand a half hour transfer from the airport but my goodness when you arrive its stunning, the streets are closed at tea time to traffic and all the tables and chairs fill the streets children are alloed to play safely, music softly playing in the background with the sea lapping its truly beautiful, at dusk the mountains turn a soft red against the turquoise waters, boats arriving from the whale and dolphin watching sight seers, it comes alive, the old ferry docks from its days service, docking next to the dolphin boats, children swimming around the the ferry without fear, as everyone looks after everyones children its such a unique place that what brings us back, the people, they are so special so welcoming, this little place is unlike any other i have visited before. a truly beautiful spot of crete. my regards liz.

Okay so this guys starts off the review on massive negatives. However I think his negatives are only applicable to his American audience - for example: the driving on Crete is crazy, small roads etc
Rest of World: pretty normal
American: You need to show your driving license.
Rest of World. Yeah we all drive stick here normally - why wouldnt you? Only in America do more people drive autos than manuals. We can do both. Its a non-issue
I feel like writing up a Project Register to reflect the issues appropriately to show the American view versus rest of world.
I love Americans though, crazy lovely people. And they gave us McDonalds so thumbs up from me, love a Big Mac!

Man, if think that Crete people drive like crazy, you definitely should not go to Poland: D
I just came back from Crete and I loved how people there are so super nice and friendly, chilled, and peace-loving. What I noticed immediately was that they drive so slow, that I thought I get sleep behind the wheel. If you go to Poland you will feel like on the pirates car rally: D

I found it hotter in Crete than anywhere I have been. The weather was 42 when we visited late June into July. It was unbearable to sit in relaxing, to exhausting to even walk about. As a pasty white Brit be prepared and be sensible.
Edited to say it is well worth a visit and it is absolutely beautiful and the beaches are the best we have visited.

With the fires going on in Evia (my father was from there so that island still has a big nostalgic value, we had to rebook our trip and will be visiting Crete instead. So: euxaristo: -) Euxaristo for an entertaining video and a honest and valuable feedback on Crete. Read you recommended the Crete pie so I have to try this next week; -)

You are a big baby if you find driving in Crete difficult, it's one of the best places ever for amazing driving, but you have to know how to drive! As for sunblock, well, given the cancer causing ingredients in most sunblocks, it's healthier to just stay in the shade between 12. 00 noon and 3pm

Love your videos! Watched it before the Crete holiday but I gotta say, as much as I love Crete or Greece people, its insane how they drive here. It might be there way of driving but it has nothing to do with being thaaat relaxed.
I saw many dogs and cats die on my roadtrip

Planing to go to Crete in mid May with my family. Well be spending a lot of time swimming but Im worried that pools and seas might still be cold for swimming in May. Anyone with experience about this? will the sea and unheated pools be warm for swimming in May?

I have to laugh that an obese white guy is not thrilled with beach and having to walk around island for fitness. I pray you fly business class as to not crush someone in coach with that 60 waistline. Have some personal standards brother.
