The problem with RVs and pickup campers is that you are like a snail, you always have your house on your back no matter where you go. If you need to go to the store for a loaf of bread or see the sights you have to take your house with you. That is less of a problem with a trailer of some sort where you can drop the trailer and still have the use of your vehicle.
And then there is the expense. Because of the large initial investment and the cost of operation and repairs you cannot compete economically with motels/hotels and eating out. You can buy a lot of nights at a nice motel and eat at a lot of nice restaurants for the cost of an RV. And, unfortunately, RVs do not hold their resale value very well. The depreciation curve is pretty steep downwards.
If it is for you fine, it is your decision, but do your due diligence and make an informed decision.

Hi Mark & Jocelyn, why don't you do a loves and hates video on RV's. We know that lots of people love them but we are of the opposite opinion and don't understand the attraction of them. We worked in Montana for three months this summer and worked with people who lived in RV's full time and also visitors who came in them. Our experience was that people in RV's actually had less flexibility to go places (especially if you do not have a separate vehicle) and it actually cost us less (we stayed in an airbnb type lodging long term. Again, some people love them but we are still scratching our heads why. So, a loves and hates video like you did with your European travel videos would be helpful. Thanks

Born Free was a super high quality RV, but they are out of business (folded in 2017) but that really doesn't mean much. The quality is super, that is why there are not a lot of them around, lower quantity production and people tend to hang on to them. Phoenix Cruiser is also very high quality and are still in business. You want a permanent bed and not one over the cab, great for guest and kids but not for older adults. You don't want to be tearing down and making up the bed every day.

The RVs shown here are truly inferior products. They look like RVs from 25 years ago! There are much better packaged RVs you can buy at a reasonable price with more refinement, features and usability. Brands like Thor, Integra, Winnebago and Allegro all offer superior products to just about everything shown in this video. And the 'safety' of born free is an exaggeration. All RVs sacrifice safety due to seating and lack of crumple zones beyond the van chassis.

I love the idea of RVs, but I don't want to travel in one. I just want to stay in one. I grew up camping in tents. I'd love to tour in my elderly Toyota Camry and then stay somewhere nice. Maybe I just need to stay in a motel? Still, interesting to see this. My grandparents owned a regular succession of either trailers or RVs through most of their retirement.

i dont want to discourage you guys, but MAKE SURE you look at HONEST reviews for RV you are considering buying. There are so many RVs that are endless money pits, for example we bought a Hurricane RV and every trip something would not work and we'd spend $500 here $1k there fixing it all the time. such a huge headache.

Hi, Jocelyn and Ms. Jocelyn's mom! While I enjoyed this video, I don't want to aid you in persuading Mark. That's on you. Though I suggest that you get one of the RVs with the stove. It gives you more options for meals. I'm wondering how one gets up on that bunk.

I think it would work if Mark had his own camper and you and the boys had another. It wound have to be a caravan. ALSO, I loved that your mom told you to leave your clothes on for the shower demo, like taking them off was a possibility! Great video.

First, take a trip to a fun KOA type resort and stay in a camping cabin. Try a place by the Grand Canyon or Colorado and Mark & kids will be hooked. Just talking from experience. Just like RVing without the 50K+.

I love the idea of buying an RV, we visit family on the east coast often and hotels add up quickly. Im looking at something small like a pop up. I drive a smaller SUV so towing capacity is limited
