2: 37 it is a bit harder to find vegan places to eat if you don't know the city, so here are some: Vegan wrapps, for example, has some nice lentil burgers and seitan burgers, choripanes and empanadas. I love their carrot mayonnaise. Then there's La Mar (I think that's the name) a restaurant in la rambla that sell burgers of synthetic meat, and one of the best lentil burgers I've ever had. We also have Guacamole that sells alfajores, cookies and ice-cream, all vegan. If you need pre prepared food to do at your home, going to the kiosko veganoide is a good idea. They have everything there. Even ham and salami!

I watched and enjoyed this video, and would like to visit Uruguay. However, the US Dept of State, in its travel advisories, discourages travel to Uruguay and warns about crime, such as carjacking, burglaries, thieves waiting to attack those at ATM machines, etc, and that this is the case throughout the country. I wonder if anyone can comment on this and hopedly put it into perspective. Thanks!

Im an uruguayan and sorry, I dont agree with your statement about the steaks always being well done. I, as well as many other Uruguayans, like it almost rare. Just saying
Im 65, lots of experience in that!
Of course, in a restaurant, is always a good idea to tell them how you like it, although this is true not only in Uruguay

I've never really thought about Uruguay and Argentina's similarities, it's always been Paraguay and Uruguay for me. Unless you know your geography, it's easy to forget there's two countries in the same continent with very similar names.

The well cooked beef, late dinners, mate and dulce de leche apply to Argentina as well. Both countries have differences (mainly political and historical, but they truly are one culture in the most fundamental aspects.
