Get a free preview of my upcoming book: My biggest fear is heights. When I-m near a large drop, my palms sweat, my heart starts racing and sometimes I feel like I-m going to have a panic attack. Back in 2016, I was 18 years old and had just started my first real backpacking trip across Europe. In a twist of fate, I happened to see one of the most iconic opening scenes in James Bond history (GoldenEye) which was filmed in the small town in Switzerland where we were staying in. For some reason I could never explain to you, I had a feeling in my gut telling me I needed to do that jump. Approaching those fears isn-t necessarily a matter of physical strength, it-s almost entirely how much you can control your mind when it-s screaming at you. I view the act of getting out of your comfort zone as training. You train when you get a new job and you train at the gym to get your body strong. You also need to train yourself with fear so when you-re inevitably forced to face those fears, you rise to the challenge. After all my experiences, I-ve faced my fear of heights 3 times now, and in a smaller way, I face it every time I get in a plane or go to the top floor of a building. To be completely honest, I-m still terrified every time. Bungee jumping wasn-t too much easier the 2nd time, sky diving was just as scary as I imagined it to be and yes, I-ve traveled to every country in the world and sometimes I still get paranoid about cruising at an altitude of 38, 000 feet. You overcome your fears by being exposed to them over and over. Sometimes it only takes 1 time then you-re changed forever. Sometimes you-re going to be terrified every time but you grow the courage to persevere in spite of those fears. One of my favorite aspects of getting out of your comfort zone is that it has a way of making time slow down because you are so present. Fear slows down your perception of time. When you-re uncomfortable, there-s nowhere else your mind can be but in the moment which results in your days feeling longer and more memorable rather than blending all together. Not that there-s anything wrong with regular days spent in your routine, those days are an essential part of life and literally everyone in the world has normal days too. But people who want to truly feel freedom, accept that they-re going to feel pain and fear in the process, it-s one of the most real experiences you can have as a human. To see more of my adventures

I'm so scared of heights that I totally froze coming down the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan. I feel a chemical reaction occurring inside every time I go up two flights of steep stairs, but I'd love to try bungy jumping too: . Especially since my wife had done it and holds it over me like a badge of supremacy. Good Job Lexi! I can completely relate to the fear of heights.

It reminds me of -Deep Water- story from my school days in which narrator was afraid of swimming coz he had terrible experience of drowning for the first time he went swimming. To overcome his fear, he swam at many places in different ponds, rivers, ocean etc. The moral is to be courageous enough to face your fears and not be terrified by them.

I'm a 17 year old Brazilian. I remember my first time going on a boat below the Iguazu Falls. I was like 10 years old or so. I was terrified and I think I was crying, but when the boat went through the waters, it was like my brain went full YOLO mode and I started to laugh. My family found that strange. What a great memory.

You can travel or apply the working visa to earn money and stay longer for discovering many nice places in here. Watching from Australia.

Awesome, I had the exact same fear as I stepped to the edge with just straps on my ankles. It was in a canyon in New Zealand, so my screams reverberated and are hilariously loud on the video ---
