Flying from Bangkok to Rio de Janeiro: T-shirts - Subscribe here - Guilherme - CURITIBA, BRAZIL: Along with eating a massive 5 kg. Sandwich the day before in Curitiba, we decided to take a historic train ride to Morretes. Morretes is a beautiful little town and happens to be known for barreado, a unique Brazilian banana meat stew. #Morretes #Brazil #BrazilianFood Serra Verde Express - Historically it was used as cargo transportation, things grown in Morretes, to Curitiba. Now the train is used for entertainment and people from across Brazil come to take the incredibly beautiful leisure train ride for the spectacular views of the forest and mountains. The train ride was a little slow, but fun, and the views were spectacular. It took about 3. 5 hours and we arrived in Morretes, a steamy jungle town. Train ride - 125 BRL ($30. 96) per person Hotel e Restaurante Nhundiaquara - After walking around Morretes for a few minutes, we headed straight to Hotel e Restaurante Nhundiaquara, one of the classic restaurants serving barreado. In order to assemble a plate of Barreado, you take some meat stew cooked in a clayport, add in cassava powder, and mash it around. Then you add banana - not plantain or cooking banana - but just straight real sweet bananas. It-s very unique and unlike any other dish I-ve eaten. Overall I enjoyed it, it was simple in taste, but with the balance of salty and sweet, and plenty of different textures. Price - 39 BRL ($9. 66) per person Thanks to Guilherme and Rafa from Rio4Fun and Rio4Food. Check out their videos here: - Rio4Fun: - Guilherme: - Rafa

Hey mark please answer this question cuz it-s driving me bonkers, how do you not gain weight from all this food you eat? And it seems you-re eating constantly. It must be your body type I have studied a lot about body types recently, I can only have a few small meals a day and I have to fast a lot and absolutely no carbs no sugar, my system is very sensitive and almost everything I eat makes me bloat. But I also heard that Asians have something in their DNA that prevents them from gaining weight so you can eat as much and whatever, is that true? I love your videos but it drives me crazy to see you eat all this great food and you don-t gain an ounce.

Great places you visited in Curitiba and the trip to Morretes by train is a must. I did it a few times by bike though, leaving from Curitiba.
Maybe if our schedules align, it would be nice to meet you in Bangkok. With all these craziness these days, it's hard for me to predict when my next visit to Bangkok will be.

Ah, soupy. Back in the day soupy was only an option for those who had better income. Generally, because the pot has to feed the whole family, the farinha is used to make the meal more filling, If you had less soup to go around/a large family you used more farinha so you didn't feel hungry.

I live in Curitiba and some holidays, when i really want to eat barreado, its only 50 minutes by car to Morretes: ) So its fun to go before lunch, eat there, walk a little bit in the town and go back to my city.
Its my favorite dish from my state! :)

-Nhamdiaquaras- is not Portuguese at all. only maybe in the sense that Brazilian Portuguese has absorbed a lot of vocabulary from indigenous languages, but that is actually the name of a native people.

Awesome video I've been watching you in Brazil and all over the place, I live in Brazil now and I would love to work with you since I love to eat and traveling.

Barreado translation would be something like mud-ish or clay-ish, because its name comes from mud/clay sand I think because it looks like a plate of mud/clay.
