Been binge watching your videos all day yesterday.
My husband and I got to visit the Equator line in Kalimantan/Borneo several years ago. In some ways you guys remind us of our relationship so it's funny/enjoyable to watch. We're finishing up grad school (one more year to go) and hope to travel like you guys some day.

The water spinning thing is only valid at very large scales, like hurricanes. At small scales, like bathtubs and toilets, the Coriolis force has no effect, and the direction of drainage is affected by initial direction of circulation, the shape of the container and drain, and other such variables.

The equator is very cool area! It can be very dangerous for aircraft. It's called the Equatorial Convergence Zone. The Air France crash in 2009 was started by huge thunderstorms with icing that led to system failures and pilot errors. Sadly killed all aboard. -

It's a fun trick. But it relates to the direction that the water is poured into the container at the beginning. The movement of the water can be coaxed one way or the other based on the way it's poured. :) Still fun, though!

but that's what happens along the equator. its the only point on earth that cant be hit with a hurricane. the forces on the other side will forcefully stop it. the force is active thousands of miles both sides

How come the two road signs you passed showed Bomet in the direction you had come from? Do the road signs read the wrong way round south of the Equator? -
