CUBAN STREET FOOD - What locals eat in Cuba - Havana Travel Vlog
video description
Pasta = paste
The guava she's eating isn't really the fruit itself, it's like a concentrated guava jam.
I remember Cuban pizzas being really good, despite being very cheap. It has it's own flavor, different from US pizza.
I'm Cuban and have never been to Havana myself, maybe will go one day.

Cuban food is amazing! However, some of the things you had like the breads with guava and paste are only due to scarcity. Cuba is not only a very poor country but also isolated from global trade and plagued with corruption. So when you go to a restaurant and get beans, they may not have used cilantro or oregano because they simply didn-t have it. They can-t go to a store and buy it either. It is simply not available. If you want Cuban food as it is supposed to be, then you have to go to Miami. Particularly places like Hialeah where the population is mostly Cuban.

watching this in 2021, thanks for such fun and learning about our wonderful planet!
Dad was in Cuba, 1959-61, because the company he worked for, MagnaFlux, the nondestructive testing of steel, sent him to help with their steel structural issues. Used to have 8mm home movies of those travels (so many bathrooms! Dad, what up with that) but sadly, a flood, years ago, destroyed the film. Thanks for showing me more of Cuba than I've seen in years!
Happy, and safe traveling!

Cubans don't know about Cuban sandwiches. They were started by the Cubans and Italians in Ybor City right outside downtown Tampa in the early days of the cigar industry. They needed something that was easy to take to work, The Cubans supplied the bread and pork and the Italians supplied the ham and salami. You can't have a Cuban sandwich without Cuban bread!

GREAT VIDEO! makes me want to visit Cuba as the closest I've gotten is just the State of Florida in Miami or Pompano Beach, where we did get to try the Strong Cuban coffee, but it was from the hotel and some Stone Crab and some Alligator fritters! Good job! Please keep them up!

These two come off as really fake. I am pretty sure they are rude and mean off the camera. They only care about money and don't care enough to know about the countries, cultures, and problems the population faces.

And do you think that a regular Cuban can eat at those fancy restaurant? There is no such a thing as Cuban Sandwich in today-s Cuba. They don-t have the food to prepare it. Only outside of Cuba you can eat one.

You tried very traditional food! Its sad that the lady didnt have cheese because the Pan con timba is supposed to have cheese with the guava. And the food for tourists is very cheap but for Cubans is not.

How did you guys get to use the CUP if y'all are tourists? Because I heard the Cubans would only accept the CUC from tourists. Is it that Caesar bought everything for y'all?
