First Impressions of CUBA! Exploring Havana with a Local Jeff: And that-s the problem with your travels. Do the research before you go then you have a base of understanding to connect with people in their culture. Typical Americans travel to -learn- but get side tracked by shiny trinkets. I studied in South Africa and before the University sent me I had to write a 40 page paper explaining what I knew about the several cultures of the region, common practices, currency and government structures plus know where US consulates in region are located. I also had to write what I was trying to accomplish (personal enrichment) and what I would like to contribute to academic and social fabric of SA. It made the time I spent in SA so much more authentic and rich. You two, smile into camera, say something half snarky after stuffing your face. In many parts of the world this is considered RUDE! Then you rush to edit what you just shot for $$$$. You two are missing 99% of what makes travel rich and rewarding. Do your homework and not from an American perspective but from the perspective of the indigenous people of the country you are visiting. Example, not one time have you talked to parents of children attending school, what is taught, what is expected from children and teachers, how much work students must do to graduate, how are people chosen for certain professions like being a doctor or nurse. There is so much there that you are missing.

I love all of your videos and love you guys as well! I know this video is from last year but PLEASE don't let anyone from there fool you guys into thinking that anyone is a -HERO- Cuba is communist and miserable, and as beautiful as it may be, the people there starve and struggle: ( I was born there and was raised in the U. S. but will never forget the stories and struggles of my family before we all migrated here years ago. However, im veryyyy glad you guys enjoyed it and even considered visiting my beautiful island that I hope will someday have freedom! P. s. I miss you guys traveling the world! lol

Loved this video. Being a lover of old cars, Cuba was on my bucket list and I finally got there in 2017. There is so much to see just in Havana that I am aching to go back. We did get to tour in a 1958 Chevy Impala convertible. It was super exciting. One place that we went to because we grew up during the Cuban Missile Crisis is the memorial to what the Cubans call -The Crisis of 1962-. I suspect it is much more meaningful to us old heads having lived through the 13 days that brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. Was very interesting to hear the Cubans perspective from our guides.

How much did they spend in 1 day?
Breakfast: 5 cuc
2h ride in convertible: 60 cuc
Lunch: 20cuc per person = 60cuc
Guide: 30cuc
Cocktails, entrances & tips: 30 cuc
Total: 200-245 cuc / 200-245 Euro
Local guides are super friendly, but you have to pay him every day a lunch, cocktail, he gets percentage from his taxi friend, tips. good luck,
I was solo 10 days in Cuba, total: 2500 Euro, good luck, have a nice trip

I love how Kara and Nate liked the comments that did not have to do with Correcting Kara on her blind historical interpretation. Not only did she whitewash/cover up slavery - she also causally mentions that -Cuba was a part of Spain for a long time- as if it were not colonization that ultimately ended in war. Girl. you didn't have to give a history lesson. but if you're going to give one. come with factz.

5: 05 5 pieces of bread for 2cents. It's not like that. The bread is NOT all you can buy, it's per family. If in the -libreta (notebook or whatever)- there are 2 people you get 2 pieces of bread per day for those 2 people, and FORGET ABOUT MILK, milk is ONLY for children younger than 7, after 7 yrs old the kids don't have milk & adults don't drink milk.

I-m Cuban, and my sister lives over in Cuba & her and her husband work with Santeria. Basically you have to wear a bracelet. They-re green and yellow beads, maybe you peeped it on people-s wrists. I also had to dress in all white for a year (:

The internet card situation is improving every time I visit Cuba. There are hardly any line ups in Vedado, also in Havana Centro you probably have to wait only for 3, 4 people. The problem is still connection as the internet signal is weak.

The food sucks. The buildings are crumbling. It wasn't for me. I like upscale 4 and 5 star accommodations for my money this place is inner city style 1 star. And, everything smells like communists all around you.

The -Cuban revolution- was said as a good thing, but it wasn't. Tons of Cubans fled Cuba because Fidel was rising to power. Che Guevara was also awful. Also, the cars are old because it's a COMMUNIST country.
