Dallol is the hottest inhabited area on Earth, and also one of the most remote places on Earth. It is located in a depression, at more than 100 meters bellow sea level. Dallol has one of the most unearthly sceneries on the planet, due to its acidic hot springs, sulphur, salt, iron oxide, and other minerals, small gas geysers and pools of acid. Recorded February 2014 in HD with Panasonic TM900.

Here's an interesting question. I have no idea if it's relevant or not since I'm no professional scientist but I've studied plenty of science. Could a place like this actually cause Abiogenesis? Does it have the building blocks? Is it different enough that life there is a lot different than other life on earth? Probably the most extreme thing would be if it was non-carbon based life but that probably wouldn't be the case since things like sulfur can contain carbon. It would certainly be a huge breakthrough if this place could actually give proof or clues to Abiogenesis. Regardless I think the place certainly invokes the look of what is termed primordial soup. For those that don't know Abiogenesis is the hypothetical process of organic matter arising from non-organic matter. It's already been proven under lab conditions that that this can happen for amino acids which are the building blocks of life. Lots of fun stuff on the Wikipedia article if you want to read more about it.

I would also like to add that my impression was of the planet what it might have been like 3 billion years before life forms appeared. It's also important to understand that this area is not protected by any management plan or National Park/protected area status or legislation. This is unfortunate and will cause, overtime, destruction of some of the character of the location. An email to the Ethiopia Ministry of Culture and Tourism would help.

Places like this are like the toxic, infectious, leperous, diseased side of the earth. Much like us and our bodies which are just as amazing and complex with evolving cells and bacterias that can heal or kill us at any given time. God almighty is an amazing creator of all things to work for the betterment of our civilization and his divine power.

What a strange and very colorful place The climate must be similar to that of Death Valley but at 100 meters I believe it is even further below sea level than DV. Very nice music selection again.
