Flying the BRITISH AIRWAYS BOEING 747: New York to London in Economy Class

The B747 and BA went together well, and my second flight ever was on one (a -100, no less. Fast forward many years, and I have criss-crossed the Atlantic Ocean a few dozen times, many of those on BA 747s (I've also had the pleasure of flying PA, VS and LH 747s, all a privilege) There was something about the sound of a B747 when the throttles were pushed forward. it's a proper plane. BA sunk a lot of money into retrofitting most of their 747 fleet about five years ago, and obviously they could not forsee the global pandemic coming in 2020, but that was surely not long enough to recoup the investment made. Too bad because I thought the B747 cabins were quite good, very comfortable and on more than one flight I have been able to take the poor man's lie flat across the middle section. If you didn't know these planes were around 20 years old, you probably wouldn't have guessed it by the cabin, at least in Y.

I have request not sure if this question or request has ever been asked if possible can you please do a couple of video tours of Airports you visit around the world. I have been to Heathrow Airport lots of times but never to terminal 5 I would love to hear your opinion of what you think of terminal 5.
I love that your travelling on the Queen of the Skies BA747 I love the 747 planes and have travelled on them a number of times and am saddened to hear that they are starting to phase these beautiful planes out in favour of the 777 and A380 which I heard heard has been a financial disaster. Keep up the great work your doing re enjoy your videos.

I used to travel a lot between Heathrow and Boston and were really happy when they updated the cabins. When I first started travelling around 2008, the cabins were way too dated. I have had the chance to fly in their premium economy and business class a few times and the premium economy is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. The business class doesn't offer enough in the way of comfort for the price they charge. BA are great in economy and premium economy.
If you want to pay extra for the business and first class product, stick with the arab airlines, its always worth it then.

Ive down 3 return flights on the BA 747 those were
Heathrow to Seattle
Heathrow to Dallas
Heathrow to Houston
Ive also flown on the KLM 747 from Amsterdam to Houston and the Air France 747 from Houston to Paris.
All flights were great. Couldnt fault them. One interesting thing I found about the Seattle bound flight was that there were 3 pilots. One captain and 2 copilots. During the flight the copilots took it in turns. One would fly the plane and the other would act as cabin crew and they switched half way through the journey

I flew from New York to Heathrow in January 1975 on a BA 747. This was due to a technical fault with the plane from Virginia to New York causing me and my uncle to miss our original connecting flight to Manchester. As we were both under 16 yrs old and travelling alone, we were really well looked after by British Airways once we had reached JFK. On arrival at Heathrow, we were taken to the gate for our flight to Manchester.

The first time I flew a 747 I was amused (scared) that as we sped down the runway the wing tips kept rising while the rest of the plane didn't. Until finally up, up, and away. I flew Northwest MSP Minneapolis to FRA Frankfort. This was before the days of in-flight entertainment. 1985. There may have been a movie but I don't remember it.

1999 I flew to Orlando on BA 747-400 and we flew straight out towards Bermuda then across to Florida but the turbulence was fun as the wing was bouncing up and down quite bad and the engines were rocking side to side it was amazing to watch as it was more interesting than the inflight entertainment

I love 747s, I haven't been on one for something like 10 years now, but throughout my childhood, whenever my family and I would get to the gate and see our plane was a 747, I would just be in awe, there's just something so special about them. I feel so sad that so many are being retired.

The scratched window is amazing. When you fist mentioned it, it was so foggy and rainy it was hard to tell, but up there where the air is clear you are right I have never seen a window so atrocious.

the revamp of economy is so much nice. on my last flight with ba on a 747 the cabin was so old and tv was tiny and had so much static lines and would crack about during the turbulence.

My dream was and will always be to fly a 747 for British Airways. Sadly BA have retired their 747s. An and of an era and an end of so many memories so many of us had. #LongLiveThe747

3: 18, went to Ghana in December and was the mid-J config but tbh the Mid-J ones usually go to Africa and Touristy places. Also about 6 mid-J aircraft have the old IFE still

Be aware that if you arrive at Heathrow Airport before 6am, the automatic gates for E-passports are not in operation! I had this unfortunate experience in December 2019!

I expect they are less worried about drinking booze inside the airport rather than heavily ensuring ensuring the tax-free booze is leaving the country.
