Flying on a 45 Year Old SOVIET Airliner! demonjas: Had an opportunity to fly a Cubana Yak 42 from Nassau Bahamas to Havana Cuba and the thing I noticed was that the pilots actually flew the plane more like a fighter jet than a commercial airliner. The other thing I enjoyed was how the AC fed from the bottom up rather than top down. Get in a 85 degree aircraft with 80% humidity and hit the air conditioning. Instant low hanging fog! More than one of the passengers freaked out thinking the aircraft was on fire. I guess they designed them more for heating than air conditioning. Enjoy all of your videos - from a fellow pilot in Bermuda.

Noel I love love all your videos! One request that I have is that when you are flying, please for once film the complete takeoff rather than fast forward the takeoff. When I was 19-years-old, I flew for the first time and thought that the takeoff was the most exciting event I had ever experienced! I am 73 years-old now but still get a thrill when taking off on a flight. Tks

When I saw the YAK 40 it was a trip down memory lane. The first aeroplane I ever flew on was a British Caledonian BAC 1-11 from Gatwick to Tangiers in July 1971. The rear stairway, engines at the back and the all-flying tail plane. Thanks for bringing it all back Noel.

I flew the Yakolew 42 in Bolivia at the end of the 90th. The companies Aero Sur Express hired that rare aircraft from Peru. I flew with the Yak from Santa Cruz de la Sierra to Trinidad (both in Bolivia) several times. A really special experience!

Yak 40, isn't IT a czech STOL a/c, of course used much in the CCCP, with sometimes wicked airports, with no proper runways or very short, etc. I don't want to be the wise guy, just suporting. I am commercial aviation since 6 y. o.

My dream is to travel around & fly on every Soviet Aircraft still in Service! Look at how well built they are! Safely shuttling passengers around for almost 50 years! I've literally got the chills watching this.

It was fun that Noel pointed out the reverse-thrust happening even before touchdown. I guess we know it is an old and maybe bad) airplane, but we can see it is operated professionally and safely!

Just a silly question, were there any in-flight entertainments in the Yak-40? I bet it doesn't have enough life jackets for all the passengers on board, also I don't see any oxygen masks.

I'm conflicted because I love your videos but get REALLY annoyed at how you talk during flights with passengers next to you, I would personally just narrate when you're editing

Great report about the YAK40. By the way, the lady next to you on your flight to Moscow, was amazing, I thought by myself she will blink one eye to us all viewers. Thx though; -)

You criticised other planes for safety and upkeep but this had broken seatbelts. Anchored how? Overhead luggage that could be flung out. The seats were terrible.
reply

10: 14 This aircraft was obviously build before the handcart was invented, so they still have to carry the inflight meals to your seat the traditional way; -)

If you get arrested and thrown in jail, don't expect any help. You want to visit a place that has no qualms about taking hostages, then you are simply a DF.

by yer new passport i can se you are a brexiteer. i want watch yer vids any more cuz of that. shall the brexiteers watch them but not us europeans.
reply

Pretty sure on the way to Moscow the girl sitting next to you was trying to figure out what you were talking about, maybe took a snap as well xD

I thought that the Trident was the only aircraft certified for use of reverse thrust whilst airborne but, clearly, I'm wrong. Looks similar though!

There must be a better way to make rent than to fly in these dangerously old obsolete planes. Wait. you are travelling all the time so what rent!
reply

Darling the rest of the world uses metric system. Not the archaic foot stuff. It is about time for GB to modernize its measuring system.
reply

I like the idea of taking you bag with you and putting it on the aircraft yourself. At least your bag will never be lost.

29: 32 the woman next to you taking photos of you filming, tickled me. Shes trying so hard and failing horribly to be discreet
