OMG! I wouldn't think of eating those fish and chips without the salt and vinegar! Except i have this thing for putting a dash of black pepper on my chips too! I loved going up to Vancouver and Victoria when I lived in Seattle. I used to go whale watching up there a lot, one of very few things i miss about that area. Otherwise i love Texas! But the only way to do it is by zodiac boat! It's definitely the best way to experience it! If you're back in that area, definitely go to Victoria!

I was lucky enough to fly on Harbour Air's inaugural service from my hometown of Kelowna (landing/taking off on Okanagan Lake) to Vancouver this summer; it was a hefty premium over a regular flight but it's hard to beat the views and experience of flying an unpressurized seaplane, especially through the mountains!
Not to mention no security at either end and walking off right into downtown 10 mins from where I was staying!

With Canadian (originally British, family, took a road trip all the way across Canada from East Coast, 80Km from Toronto, out to Vancouver Island. Wonderful! Then a ferry down to the US and back to the East Coast of Canada via the top of the USA. Now that's a road trip. (Took a float plane ride in The Maldives a few years ago, after 2 flights to The Maldives in Emirates 777s)

That was luxury seaplane flying, you need to go to Alaska for a ride in a six seater seaplane. No safety briefing, no life vests, one pilot, just cross your fingers and hope for the best. And hope that the snow covered mountains are really lower than they look, and the plane is high enough to clear them. And don't forget landing in a not so wide river. :-)

This is the mode of transport that checks all of the boxes for me. The only time I flew in anything smaller than a commercial jet was a friend's Cessna 150 that he flew for sightseeing over the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I made sure to read up on the basics of flying and got to fly for about an hour but was scared of landing from the crosswind.

You should try Kenmore Air (based in Seattle) if you haven't already! They operate from Lake Union right in the city. One summer my wife and I flew them up to the B. C. Sunshine Coast (with a stopover in Nanaimo for customs) and we spotted a pod of whales as we flew over the San Juan Islands (and a couple of whale-watching vessels.

In September 2014, I flew on the Mail Run around a few of the isolated bays in that part of BC. I sat next to the pilot of C-FFHQ, a 1949 DHC- 2 Beaver, 203rd airframe, which still had its original PW radial engine. Unforgettable experience! Just love the smell of Vancouver whenever I visit this favorite destination of ours

little island Ahhh bless you! It's about 290 x 55-60 miles wide off the top of my head ( I moved from ONT to the UK when I was a kid but have an uncle who lives on that 'little island'. Little is possibly an inaccurate term eh. Yes in 'Canada terms' it's nothing but you did make me laugh.

Flying on the SeaPlanes into Nanaimo is the most amazing experience. Ive done it twice so far, and I wont go back to flying commercial into YCD (Nanaimo Cassidy) or even taking the ferry.
This video just made my heart ache. You got to visit my favourite place in the world.

Harbour Air has some of the coolest planes. Harbour Air was featured in a CBC TV series back in the early 80's called Danger Bay. Not bad weekly show back then.
It's nice to see that you are travelling in Canada. Hopefully you will get to more spots while you're here.

Noel I hope you got out of B. C. before the floods, I am looking for ward to trying those fish and chips summer 2022.
Next time bring the family and go to Nanaimo and then a few days walk about Kelowna brfore June after September for best Hotel Motel rates.

This is certainly one of the most expensive flights per mile but Vancouver is one of the most expensive cities in the world. I have never flown on one of these seaplanes but now want to instead of taking the ferry over to Nanaimo. Cheers from Vancouver!

Love this! I live in Victoria, which you previously filmed a helijet ride in on. The seaplanes here are amazing and I am glad you got to experience the beauty over here - Nanaimo is a lovely extension of Vancouver Island. Cheers

It is very enjoyable to score the co-pilot seat in the Harbour Air Otter - much better than the Twin Otter. Listening to the radio chatter and asking the pilot whether he could actually see Lions Gate Bridge in the fog.

If you ever get another chance, fly a seaplane to Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The scenery coming in over the island and the rugged coast is stunning and Tofino is a lovely community.

Vancouver is one of the coolest places, I did the seaplane from there to Victoria (and back) in 2012. amazing period personally, great to re-visit via your video.
