Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide We get to know North Wales, as we visit the castle-within-a-castle in Conwy, peek into 16th-century domestic life at Plas Mawr, go down deep in the Llechwedd slate mine, and up high in Snowdonia National Park, then stroll through a Beatle pilgrimage in Liverpool. 2006 Rick Steves' Europe

He was a bit lying about the state of the Welsh language. It is expanding again, thus more and more folk can speak it. However, having that said, only 28% can speak it fluently and probably only 15% can speak it to a native level. Of course, there are regions where Welsh is the main language over English, but the man who Rick interviewed made it seem that Welsh is the main language all over Wales and that it is spoken by more folk than it really is. Do not get me wrong, there are around 800. 000 folk who speak it, which is not a bad amount, but we have to stay true here, we are just now starting to undo the damage that has been done to the language.

Nice vid you got something wrong, in Carnarvon castle we pay homage to the English prince who sized the title from the Prince of Wales Llywelyn ap Gruffudd. Llywelyn, Our Last Leader', was Prince of Wales from 1258 until his death at Cilmeri in 1282. The son of Gruffydd ap Llywelyn Fawr and grandson of Llywelyn the Great, he was the last sovereign prince of Wales before its conquest by Edward I of England.

My parents had a cottage off the high-way to Llandudno. The Isle of Mona is a short distance away. The English had to lay claim to it by calling it Anglo-sey but it was the capital of the Druids once. The air is very fresh, feels rural

Amazing place but also presentation! I'm enjoying the smart amalgam of history and scenery, thank you! I'm looking forward to see the one about York, as the county and city is still amongst my most favourite and loved places to be.

The World Harp Congress was being held there this year. Prince Charles is said to attend. He employed a Royal Harpist and this event features the best harpists around the world. Like a harp Olympics.

Wales is underrated, you don't hear about it as much as Scotland, Ireland and England which is sad because Wales is truly magnificent and wonderful!
